How can someone justify hating someone else because of their religion?
I can understand wanting to change them or save their soul but to hate them or physically harm them for having a different religion (or no religion) is something I can't understand. However people from all religions and non religions have done this and I've never gotten why. So how can someone justify hating someone just for their religious beliefs?

Nothing can justify it. I don't hate people of faith, I just find it wacky and a bit fairytale like. Hate is a strong word and if someone hates based on religious belief then they obviously hate themselves.

Real Christians cannot justify and would not justify hate. However false Christianity along with other religions with their self-serving, radical, ungodly, and devilish theology throughout history have tried. Hating your fellowman cannot be justified. No more than the Catholic Church leadership can justify murdering countless Christians through-out the Dark Ages or Muslims who have done the same and even now beat, imprison, or worse kill Christians, Jews, and each other.
Revelation 17:5 And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
6 And I saw the WOMAN, drunk with the BLOOD of the SAINTS and with the BLOOD of the MARTYRS of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.
As a matter of record here are some Historical statistics of Christains being murdered over the centuries by the Catholic Church.
The number of persons killed by the Catholic Church during the Dark Ages cannot be accurately determined because many martyrs were killed by secular governments at the behest of the church. Many more died during the crusades that were convened and funded by the Catholic Church. Due to the duration of the Dark Ages and the lack of accurate records for that period (approximately 800 years), the true numbers cannot be fully measured. However, based on a few records compiled by historians and others, the following figures begin to emerge:
Crusades 1,2,& 3 1,500,000
Spanish Inquisition 32,000
Waldensians 900,000
Saxons & Scandinavians 2,000,000
Albiginsians 1,000,000
French Huguenots 4,000,000
St. Bartholomew's Massacre 36,000
Thirty Years War 7,500,000
TOTAL: 16,968,000
The true number of Christian martyrs killed by the Catholic Church is almost certainly greater than 17 million, but probably not as high as the 68 million that has been reported. These numbers do not include numerous Jews and other non-Christian individuals that the Catholic Church is responsible for killing.
Regardless of the true number, the Catholic Church is certainly guilty of taking the lives of millions of martyrs. Inevitably, the Catholic Church is
“drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus”.

The Roman Catholic Church, in its pagan form, unofficially came into being in 312 A.D., at the time of the so-called "miraculous conversion" to Christianity of the Roman Emperor Constantine. Although Christianity was not made the official religion of the Roman Empire until the edicts of Theodosius I in 380 and 381 A.D., Constantine, from 312 A.D. until his death in 337, was engaged in the process of simultaneously building pagan temples and Christian churches, and was slowly turning over the reigns of his pagan priesthood to the Bishop of Rome. However, the family of Constantine did not give up the last vestige of his priesthood until after the disintegration of the Roman Empire -- that being the title the emperors bore as heads of the pagan priesthood -- Pontifex Maximus -- a title which the popes would inherit. (The popes also inherited Constantine's titles as the self-appointed civil head of the church -- Vicar of Christ and Bishop of Bishops.)
Mat 7:16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. 21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Jesus prophiesd when he said, Mat 10:22 "And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved" Again, Mat 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake.

I'm not going to hate someone because they believe in magic, but if part of that belief includes violence or bigotry against others, I'm not going to be nice.

people hate anyone or anything that contradicts whatever delusion they hold dear. It is not a religious situation, it is human nature. All hate can be boiled down to wanting to retain or gain control/power.

well, i know that in Muslim teachings, anyone that is not a Muslim is an infidel. because of this, many Muslims interpret that this means that if someone isn't Muslim then they don't deserve to live, so, it's in their interpretation that they're taught to hate someone else because of their religion.

perhaps its not really the religion is what is bothering them, jealousy, mistrust, boredom, greed and fear. the real cause of hate.
when you are going to a public library.. you have many books, but it is you who chose what you want to read. each person has its own story..your thoughts will react to what you read.

Yeah, quite baffling to me too. I think it is truly a brain wash for the selfish and/or weak minded.

same that people hate other people because of the color of their skin or their gender or their social class, or their sexuality it's really no different.
