I'll be very very truthful. I turn 50 in just a few months and I knew I was overweight but I just couldn't seem to do anything about it. Then I got a call from a local theatre group who asked me to direct a play. Theatre is one of my favoriate hobbies. So I got involved. I was out every evening after work, hauling props and sets, chasing kids and worrying my butt off! Literally! After 6 weeks of rehearsing, being more active than usual and missing more than one sit down type meal, on opening night I realized that I had lost 11 pounds! My energy was up, my appetite was down and I'd had more fun that I can remember. So let everyone else tell you about diets and calorie counting. I recommend getting out and doing something you enjoy more than eating! LOL Have a wonderful day!

I tried all kinds but the easiest one for me (I turned 50 this year) was a Fat Gram diet- I bought one of those little books at the book store and only ate 25 per day. Also walking! Ipod and all- it always started my day out. Yoplait lite, steamed veges, non fat cheese, salads, soups-- what you lose out on is the extras like sauces and more but once you get into it- its no big deal at all. I just found it easier to buy things and still feed my family too. Oriental steamed foods, lean meats, salads, lettuce wraps etc.

You count calories, pay attention to what you eat, and exercise. Its not rocket science. Sure it may be harder to do high impact exercising, but there are always bikes or ellipticals. And sure maybe at same bodyweight it requires less calories at a higher age to maintain. Just be patient and make life changes rather than doing a diet and working out for a little while.
