American conservatives are Marxists?
Marx defined communism as a classless, equal and stateless society. American conservatives have the mantra of equality of medical care free from the state and available to all (with ability to pay). They also support further shrinking of the state. The American concept of classlessness has replaced the old system of European class hierarchy with a hierarchy of wealth (everyone has a chance to be equal with the ideal).
Shawn: no government to this day has been Marxist or Communist. A Marxist slash Communist government would have to subordinate itself. A bloody communist government only functions unoxymoronically because of the way Marxism and Communist have been misinterpreted.
Warren v, in your 2nd paragraph you're being semantic.
Ben: you mean every American is American, but some Americans are more American than other Americans.
Shawn: on the contrary I think you have misinterpreted Marxism as have many people. You've misinterpreted liberalism because of false identification by people who call themselves liberal. Cuba, Venezuela &c aren't Marxian communist regimes because the government has not been subordinated. In our argument Americans, and people in general, of all politics have attributed their prejudices to their understanding of the thoughts of Marx and Engels. Capitalism against communism is not intrinsically better, in fact communism does not preclude capitalism. Communism may have a form of capitalism that principally serves the society over pure profit. A Marxian government would proscribe derivatives, for example. Marxism is not what Marx and Engels defined it or communism as, its early adopters didn't use an interpretation that Marx recognised which is why we have the confusion we now have.

Your answer is oxymoronic for the following reason: Marxism depends on a totalitarian communist government to control every aspect of human life with "free entitlements" (liberals love that statement). American conservatives have an ideological belief of freedom and independence FROM the government. However, has history has proven over and over again communism (aka marxism, liberalism, socialism etc) has failed repeatedly because the "free entitlements" are not really free as the price that humanity must ultimately pay is the sacrifice of liberty and independence. Cuba and the former Soviet Union are excellent examples of the marxist "utopia" that liberals can only dream about.
Intentional ignorance of the truth = liberal insanity.
Wessex: I have read The Communist Manifesto and I don't really believe I misinterpreted it nor do I believe you have either. No ideology (especially communism) has ever lived up to it's ideal. That being said humanity has made both choices when it comes to capitalism or communism and one either sides with the more perfect or the less perfect. Communism by far (even though it is the chosen ideology of liberals) has been proven to fail over and over again throughout history. If this were not so then Cuba and other communist nations would of prevailed. Liberals fail to take into account the human condition and instead rely on "good intentions" and the "utopian society" when espousing their chosen ideology named communism. The ideals of Karl Marx were entirely based on a "utopian society" and not based on reality. Hence liberal hypocrisy prevails (and will continue till mankind no longer exists) especially when those liberals continue to be supported by and rebel against the capitalists who provide them with the basic freedoms, protections and necessities that are vital to their well being. Thus I reaffirm that communism is the ultimate oxymoronic ideology that has ever been devised by mankind.
Again I say: Intentional ignorance of the truth = liberal insanity.

Partly I agree that the first poster is right, there is buyer's remorse of those who thought 'any change' had to be better and realize now you have to be careful what you ask for. However, I think also there were so MANY conservatives and pseudo conservatives in the supposedly conservative party's primary that conservatives splintered and only liberals were up for the election. Combined with how badly Bush had lived up to conservative ideals (not at all) the conservative party had a bad name, that year. The wonder is that the Dems didn't win in a blow out, instead of by only a few million votes, a few percent of the voters. Whatever. Let's work on 2010 and 2012. Bush woke up a lot of us on the right, including me, to how the political class, in large part, works, regardless of party. I think Obama is waking some up on the left. I hope by 2012 we can undo some of what is happening, and hope we can throw on the brakes in 2010. I'm sure Obama's perpetual emergency deadlines anticipate that is exactly what is going to happen, but he is making hay while the sun shines. He is passing huge bills, such as the stimulus, where most spending does NOT occur in the early years, calculating that if people have the votes to stop his new initiatives after 2010 (or a Dem revolt before then) they will not have enough votes to PASS bills rescinding what he has done.

You really shouldn't shoot up the obama koolaid.
Republicans & Democrats use to work things out for the benefit of our people & country. Since the progressives entered on the scene they have been working at dividing us to take us over.
I see everyone running around thinking progressive means progress.
Why do so many people think progress is associated with Progressivism? Is it because the word progress is in progressives? If that is their basis. They have no idea how wrong they are. Is Marxism progress?
The progressives are their own party and hijacked the democratic party using the liberal label. The progressive party never could get anyone elected. That is why they hijacked and are running the democratic party.
Progressivism is not just an idea but the practice that the government knows best and has full control and ownership over everything including people. Progressivism does not believe in government as it is now. With that I mean progressivism does not believe that representation of the people is needed because the executive branch runs everything and knows what is best. People are the property of the government like animals are owned by people. There is no such thing as peoples rights such as freedom, privacy, individualism etc. If you have ever seen the Borg on Star Trek that would be similar.
Progressivism operates under the facade of appearing to be a government doing what is best for the people without their input and silencing all opposition.
Progressivism goal is Marxism.

Wrong. Conservatives need people (Mexicans, a variety of religious groups, etc.) to blame for everything bad in the world.
They'll only want a classless society for the elite.

In order for them to be Marxists, they must also support a bloody revolution of the "factory owners" so to speak, and not all American conservatives want to truly kill their liberal brothers, no matter how much they hate them.

How wonderful that you despise Marxism!
I agree, we should oppose it whether it shows up amongst conservatives, liberals, democratic socialists, socialists, democrats, republicans, you name it.
END IT.

American liberals are Marxists. They believe in redistribution of wealth.
