I don't really have one, but I do wonder why the President isn't directly elected: one vote for one vote. Why do you use electoral colleges instead of a direct vote. This is what I have been told by an American but I have no way of knowing if it's true.

Clearly if a paedophile is free from prison he (or, being PC, she) will commit child rape or something else vile; all violent criminals will be a risk to the public. Absconding will cost the public and put us at risk.

In Britain it's often commented that northern states American and Canadian accents are indistinguishable, can Americans spot the Canadian and vice versa.

If we've only been able to secure allies since 1815, 1820, or the more recent date of 1940, 1941, we must be an awful country. Haven't we been allied with the Netherlands far longer; even our love-hate relationship with France has been one of allies since the Entente Cordiale in 1904, a date older than Cameron's 1940. Don't forget during the 1930s and through to the 1940s America had strong influences of an anti-British idea; it has been speculated as the cause for America's delayed entry to WWII. I don't imagine the anti-British tones disappeared post-1940. Are we so awful to only be able to attract allies since 1820 or the more likely instance Cameron refers to of 1940?

Shouldn't we encourage sweatshops in poor (and perhaps rich) countries? When sweatshops close the workers are forced into subsistence farming, hard labour, prostitution, collecting rubbish from the street, or starvation by unemployment. Without sweatshops malnutrition or starvation will soon follow. When the US law Child Labor Deterrence Act was passed round 50,000 children were forced to leave the clothes production industry many resorted to crushing stones, begging, and prostitution. UNICEF's 1997 State of the World's Children study found these jobs "more hazardous and exploitative than garment production."

Surely sweatshops should be encouraged by governments.

What I mean is that I think dyslexia is exasperated by poor teaching and should teaching be of a better standard the negative effects would be minimalised.

Should the Liberal Democrats adopt a purely social and economic (socioeconomic) liberal grand narrative that gives the party an identity beyond none-of-the-above? Social Democrats, such as Hughes, aren't liberals they have more with Labour than their own party. Wouldn't it be better if everyone with liberal views joined the Liberal Party and all those with other views joined their respective parties?

Marx defined communism as a classless, equal and stateless society. American conservatives have the mantra of equality of medical care free from the state and available to all (with ability to pay). They also support further shrinking of the state. The American concept of classlessness has replaced the old system of European class hierarchy with a hierarchy of wealth (everyone has a chance to be equal with the ideal).

I voted Lib Dem because I liked their manifesto, their view of government. I knew the only way the Lib Dems could get into government was to form coalition. My preference was with the Tories because I don't trust Labour and found nothing to support about either their manifesto or coalition agreement.

Now you hear to great cheers that no one has what they voted for. Well I do and everyone I know who voted Lib Dem do. The Lib Dems have more job security, more policies than I thought they could ever get into government without desperately imagining a majority. I have what I wanted the Lib Dems in coalition with the party I wanted the coalition formed with. Who has or hasn't got what they voted for?
