Killing Joke - Jaz Coleman apparently has done lectures on quantum physics and claims to have an IQ of 190 if I remember (my IQ being somewhat lower)

Sisters of Mercy (Andrew Eldritch went to Oxford)

Gang Of Four - Marxist intellectual bods (Leeds University)

Wire - many succesful bands had been to art school back then - but these sounded like they'd turned up to classes as well

Crass - Penny Rimbaud was definitely an intellectual

Dream Theater's core three guys met at Berklee School of Music.

3/4 of Talking Heads met at the Rhode Island School of Design.

Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine has a BA from Harvard ~ in political science. Figures, no? ;-)

Walter Lure.

He was a pharmacist, so I'd assume he did lotsa schooling for that.

And..now he's a stock broker, I think.

And David Bowie went to art school, too.

The Offspring. The lead singer, Dexter Holland, was valledictorian in high school and was on his way to getting a PhD. in mollecular biology, but he quit to be in a punk band, so now he only has a masters and a bachelors degree. He's also certified to fly a plane.

MGMT--the main two people, Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser both went to Wesleyan University in Connecticut. They were both in art programs and they are very intelligent.

Plus they're my favorite band.

Mick Jagger was enrolled at the London School of Economics for awhile, Keef went to Sidcup Art College. I don't really pay too much attention to the education of the bands I listen to, these were all I knew off the top of my head.

But I guess I'd say Bad Religion..because Greg has a PhD in..uh..some science xD I honestly don't consider art to be intellectual (here come the TDs..) And I actually think he is the only one with a degree in 'real' science..the rest of them are in art/social science etc..

Favorite "smart band" is Iron Maiden. Honorable mention - Rush.

BQ - I think I would manage to avoid eating it.

BQ2 - Something by the Scorpions - at the moment, "Crazy World."
