Where can I find an abandoned newborn kitten?

So I really want to foster a litter of kittens. I went to the animal shelter and they said they will call if the get any newborn kittens without a mother any time soon. I know there isn't exactly a shortage of abandoned newborn kittens, but where are they?

Emphasis on the abandoned part, please don't tell me to steal kittens from their mom. I want to help

Update:

I have done extensive research on it and I'm in High school. I'm on summer break so I have the time. I know they have to be fed every 2 hours and how to do it.

Update 2:

I'm not trying to adopt kittens. I just want to foster them and help them. Newborn kittens are abandoned. My friend owns a farm and she says she finds newborn kittens there all the time and half of them end up dying because somebody dumped them there. I'm not trying to steal them away from their mothers either. I'm trying to HELP

Well I would post it on Craigslist. There may be people that need to get rid of kittens and they would reply to your ad. Also try every shelter in your city and tell them you are willing to help. Also that is a great thing you are trying to do! There are so many kittens and cats that get abandoned every day and need somebody like you to help them. You should research how to take care of newborn kittens without their mom as it can be very difficult! I've done it 4 times! It's very time consuming and the kittens lie is in your hands. It can be very scary! But also try ebay and just tell people what you want to do and eventually you will get some kittens! I know people that will be driving down the road and their are kittens in a box on the side of the road,Which is very sadd... :( But good luck!

newborn kittens wouldn't be abandoned, their mum would always be with them. If you went out and found a litter of kittens in a bush and took them home, their poor worried mother would come pack with their dinner and cry cuz someone stole her babies!

So don't take any kittens that you find like that, report them to the shelter so that they can take the mother cat in as well, then you can adopt the kittens when they're big enough to be away from their mum.

That's so nice of you to want to help foster them. You might also try calling some rescue groups if there are any in your area. if you are in US look on Petfinder for rescue groups and other shelters in your area you might not know about, and volunteer with them too.

you could also volunteer to foster a female cat who is about to have her babies, or a mother and her litter.

I dont think there is like one place to find abandoned kittens. it's wherever there are a lot of feral or stray cats that are not spayed. but if you find a nest of kittens it's always important, as you say, not to steal them from their mother. The mother has to go hunt in order to feed herself and the babies and it could take her a few hours.

That is nice to do but make sure you know how to properly care for newborn kittens. Newborn kittens are the same as newborn humans in that they need round the clock feeding. It is a lot of work and if you are working it will not be possible to give kittens the care they need. Kitten formula is not cheap and if you have a lot of kittens it will cost you.

Some are in pet shops where they receive liters of kittens that are newborn. Others can be found outside of homes. There might even be ads on newborns in newspapers, online, etc=]

That's so nice of you wanting to help them, you could go to other animal shelters and ask around or call a local pet store maybe.

try your local animal control they always have strays and abandoned animals, or a farm where there's a lot of ferrel cats
