I think it's LAME, and STUPID. Every time you say "daddy" you embarrass yourself beyond repair. Just stop. Grow the fcuk up.

Lots of other people do it too. I call my parents mommy and daddy and so does my 20 year old friend. I don't see what the big deal is, I just try not to do it in public because it can be a little embarassing.

Me, and both my sisters, have always called our parents Mummy and Daddy. My little sister has gone through phases where she would call them Mum and Dad, but it just really didnt sound right.

Why? Cause I'm used to calling them Mummy and Daddy, and that's my name for them if you like. Calling them Mum and Dad is like giving them a different name. It just doesn't sound right for me.

I feel uncomfortable calling them that when other people are around because I worry that they will think I'm weird for calling them that, but it really isnt something you should be put down about. I think I'll be calling my parents mummy and daddy till the day I die. =P

If, however, I'm talking to someone else about them, I will refer to them as "my mum" or "my dad", because I guess I see mum and dad as nouns, and Mummy and Daddy as names if that makes sense.

Why should it be a problem? It's just another word for father. If he wants you to call him something else, he would tell you. And what other people think about it shouldn't even factor into it. The two of you are the only ones involved. No one else has a right to criticize you about it.

of course not the way a child calls their parents is determined by the culture they grow up in

eg like in united states daddy/dad is most common but another part of the world they probably say papa/father

I'm 15..and I call em a variety between dad and daddy. ._. saying father just is..odd (for me)

It's normal, my dads family has this strange thing where my uncle calls his dad pa, my dad calls him dad, and my aunt calls him father.

Odd considering they all grew up in the same house, but, that just kind of proves...you can call him whatever you feel comfortable with. :)

Didn't you watch Smokey and the Bandit? Men of forty call their dad's "daddy" in that movie. I think it's normal in the south.

I'm 18 and I call my father "Dad", and I've called him "Dad" ever since I was 4 years old. I don't know why, I just do.

My 31 year old sister calls our mom "Mommy". Why? Because she wants to, I s'pose.

it may be a cultural thing. I know that italians tend to refer to their parents like that. my GF is full-blooded italian and her father and aunt refered to their mother (her grandmother) as mommy until she died. And she and her brother refer to their parents as mommy and daddy. Even thou the parents are divorced they still refer to each other as mommy and daddy when talking to the kids

It's not weird. It's more personal, and may seem more immature to others, but if neither of you don't have a problem with it then call him whatever you like.
