A different kind of question: What is the worst thing that could happen to a college prof?
What do you think? It can be serious or funny. Caught being naughty? Discovering he/she committed plagerism? An ultra-conservative? What else? Thanks.
Joe, not the kind of website address I visit. I'll have to pass.

The worst thing is not to get tenure. Tenure simply means you've got a job for life - if you want it. You're free to leave. Profs that don't have tenure and can't apply for it might be making 20k a year without benefits with a PhD in their field as an adjunct, and colleges are hiring more and more adjuncts and fewer and fewer professors.

A sexual harassment charge. It happened to one of the professor's at our school. He was planning to retire at the end of that year, but the harassment charge tarnished his reputation. Instead of being known for teaching at our school for 20 years and all of his research, he will be known for possibly harassing a student.
On the funny side, having an undergraduate degree revoked due to plagiarism would be kind of funny.

I guess the worse thing is being caught have relations with students espeically if he is 20 or 30 years older than the student.

The worst thing is to get tenure. Then the professor is stuck at that place and his whole life has been determined. It is the kiss of death.
