We are not copying anybody. The world is copying us. The Infinity and Zero has been floated by India and the world has adopted it. And the whole world and everything is between Zero and Infinity.

These Rupees and Euros are small things. And the symbol of Rupee is well thought out and accepted.

@ shane: Any symbol which has to fit in the size of a font, will find similarities with other symbols. This is not an election symbol or a country emblem, where you have the liberty of using enough space.

Your question only reveals the usual complex. The rupee symbol incorporates both the English "R" (without the left vertical line) and the Devnagri script of Ra. In Euro, the bend is backward while the bend is forward in rupee symbol. The horizontal line in Euro is in the middle while the second horizontal line is nearer the top line in rupee symbol. U better look into both the symbols more critically and you will find that it is not a copy of any other symbol. You may see, in days to come, the other rupee nations developing their rupee symbols based on ours. Be positive, don't criticise anything originally Indian

Yes all the symbols look similar but with different identity than whats the problem. Euro symbol and other four symbols and rupee symbols are not same.

Do your research again. You will find the difference.

It is selected carefully from the 3000 entries received for the rupee symbol.

Further more the new symbol will separate Indian Rs/Re. from other countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal where the currency is also called as Rupees.

Let us wait and watch whether someone files suit in some court or the other. If no one does, then it is a safe bet that the symbol has passed all tests of legality.I also suggest that since you have researched this and found that it is a copy, you should boldly file a suit. You will then have your fifteen minutes of

fame.Of course,in the bargain you should be also prepared to face bankruptcy because you will be bucking the might of a country.Have a Great Day.

It is very good to have Indian rupee symbol. It is very good thing to happen. To get to final stage lot of thought was given by the government.Instead of criticizing we all should feel proud of it. Cheers

it is Ok yaar. every men is some how copy of other men, but still different. turning around is no logic. do not fuss, just accept and let it go unless you have a better alternative to this one. Be positive. more over it is not a big issue in front of hunger and disparity and disillusions in India.

That is so they can make counterfeit money more easily and use it in Europe. Crafty lot.
