Box for going away to uni?
Hi,
My little sister starting uni in Sept and want to make her up a box or pack of things for uni.
Even thought I have just graduated I can't remember what all I needed 4 years ago when I started!
Was thinking of a guide to being a student, so things like where to get freebies, cheap things discount codes etc.
Gift card for Tesco/Asda to get food when her loan runs out.
A hoodie from her new uni, basically things to help her settle into a new city/uni etc as we won't be able to visit her too often and she won't be able to pop home often without a flight and a very long car journey.
Mum/dad will be getting her all the essentials, eg, bed clothes, towels, kitchen stuff etc, just want to get her some more personal things to make her room feel a bit more like home and a little less depressing like mine was (why do uni's think stone walls just painted a horrible green colour is inviting and not depressing!)
Thanks for any tips!
Thanks so far to those who have actually answered my question, your suggestions have been really helpful!

I made my sister up a similar box when she went to uni and put stuff like post-it notes in (and the mini ones you get for highlighting books), highlighters, note cards so she could write to me, photographs and an academic diary (one that goes from July or August 2010 to June or July the next year...I had one at uni and would not have been without it!) I also put in stuff like a mug with her name on, some silly socks and put it all in a box with drawers so she could use that for all her bits and pieces whilst she was there.
Hope yours goes well, my sister really loved hers and it is a really nice idea.

photo album, cd of favourite songs mixed in with messages from you, letter or card hidden inside, some change for the laundrette, maybe some of her favourite food treats for when she feels sad
