Ballet classes in Belfast?
Hi all,
Does anyone know of any children's ballet classes in Belfast for a 5 year old?
We are based in the Queen's area of South Belfast, so preferably somewhere close to there or somewhere easily accessible by bus as we don't have a car.
I had thought the Crescent Arts Centre had done them but can't find any info about them anywhere.
Thanks for any help!
1 AnswerBelfast1 decade agoCalling all teachers - contribution to a school as a teacher?
Hi All,
I have been accepted to do my PGCE in September and am currently filling out a Student Profile which will be sent to schools, who will then chose if they want me on placement with them or not.
I have it nearly all filled out, am just a little stuck on the last question. "How do you hope to contribute to the wider life of the school during your placements?"
It's quite a big block to fill in and im stuck for things to write. I have only planned what I am going to write so far, things like setting up or helping at extra-curricular activities after school, helping to enhance cross-curricular initiatives, participating in social and community projects off the school site, helping with special projects that benefit the whole school such as school plays, fundraising, helping with field trips, encourage healthy eating and physical exercise.
But that will only take up a 1/3 of the block so need help of what else to write!
Basically, teachers, how do you contribute and how do you expect placement students (that will be with you for approx. 2 months) to contribute to your school.
Thanks for any help :)
6 AnswersTeaching1 decade agoBox for going away to uni?
Hi,
My little sister starting uni in Sept and want to make her up a box or pack of things for uni.
Even thought I have just graduated I can't remember what all I needed 4 years ago when I started!
Was thinking of a guide to being a student, so things like where to get freebies, cheap things discount codes etc.
Gift card for Tesco/Asda to get food when her loan runs out.
A hoodie from her new uni, basically things to help her settle into a new city/uni etc as we won't be able to visit her too often and she won't be able to pop home often without a flight and a very long car journey.
Mum/dad will be getting her all the essentials, eg, bed clothes, towels, kitchen stuff etc, just want to get her some more personal things to make her room feel a bit more like home and a little less depressing like mine was (why do uni's think stone walls just painted a horrible green colour is inviting and not depressing!)
Thanks for any tips!
2 AnswersHigher Education (University +)1 decade agoBirthday party at Zoo - advice needed!?
Hi All,
We are having our daughter's 5th birthday party at the zoo this year. Well it is more like a family day out to the zoo for her birthday.
We are inviting just relatives so 7 children (including birthday girl) and 5 adults (including my partner and I).
We are providing picnic food for both children and adults (sandwiches, fruit, sweets, crisps, sausages, cheese sticks, jelly, birthday cake etc) and the zoo is having a bouncy castle, face painting, puppet and magic shows on that day too.
I have been able to get all the food, drink, cake, plates, balloons, party bags etc for less than £30 but the biggest cost is going to be paying for the entrance to the zoo.
The children is working out to be £18.00 (some are less than 4 so get in free anyway) but the adults is costing us £42.50 (£8.50 per adult). I don't mind paying for the children at all but the price for the adult to come with their child seems a lot when we are paying for them all.
So I was just wondering, if your child was invited to a birthday party at a zoo (or somewhere that had an admission price for adults) would you go expecting to pay for yourself or for the person organising the party to pay for you too. The adults who are going to be there are family only, (i.e. granny, aunts). Just wanted to get general opinion before I ask OH's mum about it.
Thanks for any advice!!
Family1 decade agoWhere can I get this Disney Princess Doll?
Hi,
I am looking for a Disney My Interactive Princess Doll, preferably the Cinderella doll, but I would probably go for one of the other princesses if I can't get the Cinderella one.
Basically I am looking for a new one, still in it's box for a birthday present. Does anyone know where I can get one?
It is the doll in this post http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/657817/interactive-... but I need it new and still in it's box.
Have tried Amazon, Ebay, Toys r us and argos but can't find it anywhere, has anyone seen it either instore or online?
Thanks for any help!

1 AnswerOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoChildren's craft items?
Hi,
I am creating an Art and Craft hamper for a 4 year old and am looking for somewhere that does a big tub of different craft items in one (such as feathers, ribbon, buttons, foam shapes, stickers, beads, pom poms, pipe cleaners, sequins etc) at a reasonable price.
I have looked on ebay already and there doesn't seem to be any mixed/assorted tubs of craft items just individual pieces.
Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks!
5 AnswersHobbies & Crafts1 decade agoWhat to buy a 4 year old that has everything for her birthday?
Hi everyone,
It my partner's daughters birthday at the end of this month she will be turning 4 and we need some ideas of what we can get her.
Basically everything we have said we will get her, she already has, she is spoilt rotten by her mum. Her mum has got her an iPod and Nintendo DSi for her birthday (we think she is far too young for these) and want to get her something more appropriate and fun for her age.
We have suggested a sand and water tray, outdoor toys, art and craft stuff, play camera (she is fantastic at taking photos), play kitchen etc but she has everything already!
She isn't a girly girl, she isn't interested in dress up, or dolls etc but loves art and craft, playing with little figures, dinosaurs, Playdoh, playing outside, being read stories etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I have heard of the new Magic Maize/Happy Mais, has anyone tried this yet?
If there is anything new just out that sounds good, maybe she won't have it already or perhaps something that can only be bought in America etc so it will be most likely she won't have it!
Thanks for any help!
16 AnswersToddler & Preschooler1 decade agoAdvice on emigrating?
Hi,
My partner and I are thinking of emigrating in the next 5 or so years and just want to start looking into our options.
We have been thinking of America, New Zealand or Australia. My partner has just graduated with a degree in Archaeology (hopes to have his PhD in a few years time) and would possibly like to go into lecturing and I will graduate with a Computer Science degree next July and would like to go into teaching (I will have complete my PGCE and hopefully a Masters and/or PhD in Education by the time we are thinking of emigrating.)
Does any one know of any nice places to emigrate to, I don't want to live in a city but would like to be close to one or a big town but out in the countryside or suburbs, somewhere peaceful, where I can have a big garden and be close to nature. So far we have thought about Boston, or upstate New York.
We are from N.Ireland and would like to emigrate out of the UK.

5 AnswersOther - Home & Garden1 decade agoDiscount designer clothes for children?
Hi,
My partner has a 4 year old daughter with his ex. His ex only allows their daughter to wear expensive or designer clothes ie clothes from House of Frasier, Baby Gap, Pumpkin Patch, DNKY, etc.
My partner and I can't afford and don't believe in paying £50 for a t-shirt for a child that is going to grow out of it in a few months - of course we want her to have nice comfortable clothes but we don't believe that that means paying £50-100 for a designer t-shirt or trousers.
We have bought loads of clothes for her from H&M, Next, Debenhams, Mothercare etc but she never wears them and we just found out that as soon as the mother saw the label she just binned them.
My partner has just finished uni and is having trouble fining a job with his degree and can only get work for 6 week periods and then nothing for weeks so he doesn't have a steady income coming in. Even with this he still pays her maintenance directly to her even though the CSA told him he doesn’t have to pay maintenance and refuses to take money from him. When he does get money in he always buys her something, nothing big but something small like some new outdoor toys, or a game etc but nothing extravagant but this is not good enough - the mother expects something around £100 spent on her nearly every week.
I have a full time job at the minute but am being made redundant at the of July and going back to finish my degree in September, but after I pay rent for myself and my partner and household bills I only have £200 left to live for the rest of the month so I can't afford to give my partner a lot of money to spend on designer clothes.
We have tried to explain that she doesnt need to be in designer clothes all of the time (especially as she is not allowed to get them dirty as they just get binned straight away - not washed just binned as she decides that they are no good anymore) and that we can't afford to dress her in them but that clothes from Next, H&M, etc are just as good.
Does anyone know of any websites that sell designer clothes but at a discount price?
Thanks for any help!

1 AnswerFashion & Accessories1 decade agoPhoto frame for graduation certificate?
Hi,
I want to get my partner a silver photo frame that can be engraved to hold his graduation certificate.
The certificate is 8 1/4 inches by 11 1/2 inches so I need to find a silver photo frame that would fit it and can be engraved (ideally with the university’s crest and his name / date)
Can anywhere suggest where I can get one either in a shop/online?

1 AnswerReptiles1 decade agoActivities for children?
Can anyone give me any idea of activities to do with two girls aged 3 and 4 at home?
I do some arts, craft and baking with them but would like a book / good website that gives me loads of ideas/activities that I can do with them.
I have looked at some websites but they haven't been great. Has anyone found a really good book or website that covers a good range of activites for different age and ability groups?
I don't want to buy too many books or have to go to too many different websites every time I want to do something new so somewhere that has it all in one would be good - somewhere with cooking/games/craft etc ideas all in one and that just doesn't cover one age group
Thanks for any help!

5 AnswersPreschool1 decade agoFashion advice... (I’m a disaster!)?
I need help...
I really don't know what I should be wearing!
I work in an office during the week and the dress code is smart casual so I end up wearing my jeans, t-shirt and trainers but I want to dress up a bit more at the weekends / weeknights so I look a bit different than I do during the day at work.
I am 5ft 6", size 12 top (with a bit of tummy which I am trying to lose) and size 14 bottoms.
The tops of my legs would be quite big and I only have small boobs (36A) so I would say I am pear shaped but am curvy (if that makes any sense).
I don't know what I should be wearing to flatter my best bits, or even what my best bits are!!
What colours or outfits are in this season? I have red hair so I need colours that will be good for that!
I would love to wear my heals more (can't during work as they wouldn't be suitable footwear) and something other than trainers (but still be able to wear them sometimes with outfits).
The shops I have around me are New Look, H&M, Next, River Island, Oasis etc.
Let me know if you need any other details!
Thanks for any help you can give me... I need it!!
