For some reason my desk top's front two will accept disk's, but will not read them.?

and when I go into "my computer". It shows no "E or F" but shows G,H,I and J as removable disk, but are actually USB ports! Very confusing!

The USB ports will not be connected to the motherboard headers.

You should read your questions before you post them, this makes little sense.

im assuming that you are fairly new to computers and know the basics at least

sounds like, either the drivers arent installed correctly or the drives arent plugged into the motherboard correctly (maybe a loose cable on the board or the back of the drives)

    method 1.

click on start, XP: right click My Computer, click on properties, in one of the tabs there should be a button called "device manager", click that, are there any yellow question marks? Win7: right click Computer, click properties, then click Device manager, same, any yellow question marks? is there anything in cd/DVD drives? if not move on to method 2

if you do have a yellow qustion mark, right click the device andd click properties, the next window tells you if the device is working or has an error, if it has an error, then post the full error in you additional info, including the code number if applicable

    Method2:

with the computer turned off and unplugged, take the side off the computer, check the back to see what side the motherboard is on, you want to take off the side thats opposite the motherboard, the side where all the plugs are closest to is the side with the motherboard,

with the side off, look at the back of the drives, both of them should have 2 cables connected to the back, some might have a smaller plug, check all plugs to make sure they are in fully, next, follow the big skinny cables to te board where they are plugged in, make sure they are in fully

next, plug the computer back in and turn it on, if the plugs weren't in properly before it may say that it has finished installing new devices, but needs a restart, restart it, now try loading a disk,

    tell us how you go
