People think I have no life?

This may be long but stay with me.

I have been told so many times I have no life. It's getting so pathetic I have to see what Yahoo Answers has to say about it :) Anyways,I play Runescape and Call of Duty MW2 all day. Literally from when I wake up til I go to bed. Of course I do a bit more than that and I'll tell you about it.

I've always ignored people that do it but it's getting more common and more annoying now.So my question is and mostly to the "popular people" Whats having a life then? And of course I get the same reponse: Friends, going outside, getting girls. So I think but not say: Friends aren't important unless they become the manager of your business one day or something. Going outside gets you sweaty and gives you cancer. If I want to exercise I'll do it on a treadmill. And girls? Im 15 I dont care about girls. Theres no point. Theyre just like friends except with...benefits. I dont care about having sex and I don't like fish anyways. Anyways most of the girls in every school are whors and I find them immoral.

So playing games is a waste? Well, most people don't know but when I play Runescape I can play it sometimes by being away from keyboard. And what do I do when I'm afk? I'm preparing for my career. I've learned several different computer languages such as Java Html C and a bit of Perl.

So in summary: Friends are a benefit of life and are more of a "hobby" than a requirement. Anyways I don't want friends at this age because I'm waiting til college where there's other people interested in computer programming. I will most likely get married to a woman but not to a pregnant sltty 17 year old. And the guys that think I have no life probably watch TV all day or go play with their buddies, while I'm preparing for a $50k a year. And if you say games are a waste I'll say friends are a waste.

So this isn't really a question but I just want you to post your thoughts.

I know how you feel and in many ways I feel the same myself.

Let me ask you a question. If you're in class sitting by yourself and you see a bunch of people in a corner just talking randomly and having fun, what do you feel? For the longest time I felt like "who needs friends", right? They're just people you talk to when you want something from them. But on the other hand, I envied the amont of fun they're having just by interacting with each other. And I want to experience that feeling.

Like you, I love programming. For me, programming is like an exciting challenge that gives a great sense of satisfaction when I get something done. I'm at uni now. And you know what I noticed about most people who take these programming courses? The majority of the good programmers also view life in this kind of way. I say good programmers because the 'not so good' programmers are kinda like normal people, i.e. they're not as good at programming but they generally have better friend skills.

I have a theory. Everyone has a logical and emotional side to themselves. And I think the reason people like you and me are good at programming is that our emotional side was underdeveloped for one reason or another when we were young. And because of this we are much better able to focus on our logical side, manifesting in being good in tasks like programming.

You know, I'm not doing a programming degree like computer science or computer engineering. It's a long story but I know someone who did computer science when he was young. He's been a programmer his whole life. I see his lack of good close friends and his very 'to-himself' lifestyle and I think to myself, "That's not the person I want to be when I grow up." I just took these computer courses for fun while doing something else unrelated. From these courses I learnt C, assembly language, and Perl, and funnily I was always one of the best in my courses even though I'm not actually a computer student.

People say money does not bring happiness. Well then what does bring happiness? And people answer friends and family. I truly think when you can really have fun with your friends, you can achieve levels of enjoyment far surpassing that of playing games.

And this brings me to my final point. I might not know how to really interact and have fun with my friends right now, but I'm working on it. And so can you. Because I have a goal: to have friends who I can just play around and have fun with for the sake of it. Just like that bunch of people in the corner of the room. And if this means changing my whole attitude, mentality, and perspective on things in life, then so be it.

Source(s): My own experiences. Btw, pay this forward and help someone as I've helped you, just as I previously recieved help by someone before when I needed it the most.

When you stop to think about it, just watching tv all day and playing video games all day are pretty much both wastes of time. The fact that you're preparing for a career while doing so wouldn't save you from being called a "low life" in the eyes of many. In my opinion, as much as one would say that you don't need friends, it doesn't mean that they are a waste of time. Just like how you believe that games aren't a waste of time. The difference is in opinion, so that's my best answer.

  • Wow in some ways I wish I was like you. You know just not caring weather you have friends or not lol. I've always never been the type to go out a lot and have a ton of friends. I have a few friends and I've only been out with one of them this summer most of the time I just text and talk on Fb it really sucks because I don't like not having a full life. But it has always been like this I've always spent majority of my time alone and it drives my mom crazy sometimes to the point of fights.I too, like you, am 15 and really as of this year am focused on getting into a good college so that I can become a geneticist.

But getting back to you it seems more like you choose to not live fully I don't think it's great to spend so much time alone but if that's what you want to do that's fine. Just remember that there's nothing wrong with taking a day off from your gaming to go chill with somebody or a group of people of have similar interest as you.

You don't have to sleep around and party to live.

My son spent a lot of time on his computer and reading when he was the same age as you. But when he started collage he made a lot of friends with the same interest. He now has a busy social life and enjoys night clubbing. So don't worry about what other people say, enjoy your own company for now. There's plenty of time to grow up. Good luck for the future !

I see it like this since I'm sort of half-way between being a social loser no-lifer and someone who is "popular" - do what you value. The only reason these people say that having a life involves going outside, girls, friends, drinking in clubs, etc is because that is what they value. Also because they are the majority of people doing these things is classed as being a normal life.

tl;dr - do what you value since its your life and why should you care what someone else considers normal.

You've got a life, and what's important is that you are happy with what do are doing. :)

Somtimes choosing solitude now might affect the social choices you make later (habit, etc). There are teenagers who are interested in computer programming :) An interest group might make it easier to find them. It's okay too if you'd rather spend and enjoy your time by yourself.

    Take care :)

I'm some what the same way, I don't see friends and patying and such as a requirement and when people say "get a life" they just don't understand that you're happy the way it is and that's all that matters.

To them, getting drunk and sleeping around is fun.

Not so much for us though.

In my opinion, there's something wrong with you. I don't really like the phrase "no life" since it doesn't mean much. As long as you're content with what you are doing then you have a life. For me and a lot of other people, having a life means going out with friends, having fun, getting girlfriends, simply because it's what makes us happy. We like to go outside, play sports with friends, and have fun. We also like to site and play videogames like normal boys our age.

"Friends aren't important unless they become the manager of your business one day or something." Bro, how can you not want to have friends? Friends are the people that help you out in hard times, friends are who you can trust and who can cheer you up on sad days. Friends are the people you can go out and have fun with. Whats so bad about going outside?

Theres so many things to do outside. You can get cancer inside or outside. Oh well you get sweaty. Welcome to the real world because you're in for a lot more then sweat. All you're doing is wasting your life chopping trees for hours upon hours in runescape while others are living it up and having fun. About girls. It's all natural for teen boys to be attracted to the opposite sex. Much like myself. Its just the hormones in our blood.

How are you preparing for your future by playing runescape and call of duty? I agree, that learning computer languages is a vital skill usefull for many jobs but when you play runescape and call of duty all you're doing is repetitive motions that don't help anything but some coordination skills. People who are socializing are also learning how to deal with different people and are learning vital social skills needed later in life.

I like how you are so confident that you have it all made for you later in life. "I will most likely get married to a woman but not to a pregnant sltty 17 year old. And the guys that think I have no life probably watch TV all day or go play with their buddies, while I'm preparing for a $50k a year"

Sorry to tell you, but real life is much harder then that.

I just feel sorry for you since you can't fully enjoy these values because you probably have never even expierenced them. You're just a kid living in ignorance thinking that mining ore in runescape for hours is more productive then having fun with your friends.
