I'm making a souffle. the recipe calls for castor sugar; is that the same thing as regular sugar?

it says "castor or superfine sugar" and our sugar says "granulated sugar"..

Update:

We have brown sugar too; is that what castor sugar is?

Castor sugar isn't brown, it's white sugar that's ground finer than ordinary sugar. It's used in baking because it dissolves more quickly. If you put ordinary sugar in a souffle then it might sink.

Caster sugar is just super fine sugar. You can make your own by processing granulated sugar in a food processor or blender.
