Anyone heard of allergy drops under the tongue/tried it?

My pediatrician said this has worked for little kids and babies with eczema and recommended an allergist to me who practices this way. Has anyone done this and had success?( I believe it is called immunological therapy or something)

It's called SLIT (Sublingual Immunotherapy) therapy and it has not been approved by the FDA although it is widely used in other countries. 

"SLITSublingual immunotherapy is a method of treating allergies by desensitizing individuals to allergens over time, in many cases with the goal that they be cured of their allergies. Sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) is similar to subcutaneous immunotherapy (SCIT), commonly known as allergy shots. In principle, patients are given small doses of allergens in order to train the body not to react to them. Unlike allergy shots, SLIT, is a solution of allergen extracts, often called allergy drops, that is placed under the tongue."

You can get it in this country - it's just hard and will not be covered by insurance yet.
