Do creationist use dishonest tactics on purpose?

Creationist very often misuse science to try and prove their case. For example trying to prove that the earth is only 6,000 years old. They also fairly often quote mine famous scientists and philosopher to try and prove their case. On top of all this their arguments are always filled with a plethora of logical fallacies. All of these are dishonest tactics. My question is, do they use these tactics purposefully, or are they just that ignorant? And. if they are ignorant, is it willful ignorance? Also, do they really expect people who do not believe in creationism to accept it base on these dishonest tactics?

Update:

Paulio, I meant Young Earth Creationist with the 6000 year old example, but that was just an example, the points still stand regardless of the generalization in the example

Also, science doesn't have a philosophy behind it, it is in itself a philosphy.

And while fabrication have been made, the scientific method and peer review have and will expose these fabrication.

It depends. People like Jason Lisle are relatively intelligent and are purposely dishonest. People like Ray Comfort are really just that stupid.

Of course the earth is not only 6,000 years old and science cannot prove this. There was a statement from Bishop James Ussher [Annals of the Old Testament, deduced from the first origins of the world’ 1650] which said that the date of the Creation was nightfall preceding 23rd of October 4004 BC This is nonsense. It is impossible to trace back individual generations to Adam and count the years for each one.

    Answers to your questions:

    a) Sometimes they do it purposely. Other times they don't. Either way it is pathetic.

    b) Mostly willful ignorance because most of them clearly have the mental capacity to accept logical arguments and facts.

    c) they are hoping to convert as many non-believers or critics as possible into their cult of superstition, but overall it doesn't seem to be too successful. Their opposition know their tactics very well, and unlike them they're actually generally well informed on the topics the creationists are trying to misrepresent. Creationists mostly sell their garbage to otherwise gullible believers who are just like them.

Well once again, it sounds like another generalization in the vein of ignorance calling out the ignorant.

For a start there are many creationists that believe in an old earth.

Be careful talking about fallacies, if you think secular science does not have an agenda, and there have been no fabrications on their behalf, then you also need to pull your head out of the sand.

But then you are obligated to defend your beliefs as such as we are.

There is indeed a philosophy behind science and to claim there is not is the utmost in arrogance.

Never attribute to malice what can adequately be explained by ignorance.

Remember these people are also in a cultural war that has been going on since before the civil war, they are bitter, suspicious, devious, and they'll tell you that government can't solve anything, especially the United States government which defeated their armies in 1865, but these people still haven't given up.

to boot to the different posters: The previous testomony, The Septuagint [translated from Hebrew to Greek someplace 250 BC] grow to be in located at that factor, used even in the previous Jesus' time. the recent testomony grow to be written 35-one hundred advert and translated to latin by ability of St Jerome, each now and then 4 hundred advert. it remains on parchments and study interior the church, or preached orally. I think there are two types of creationists: genuinely dishonest ones who realize what they're doing, and, well, repeaters who know practically nothing of science and logic.

I've seen most creationist apologetics. They are willfully ignorant, and yes the tatics such as purosefully quote mining scientists is one of their favorite.

I've even hear that some of them become scientists just to say "A scientist doesn't believe in evolution"
