How to avoiding bulk-muscle buildup?

I routinely do high repetition exercises like pushups, situps, pullups....and I just want to be able to do like 100 pushups at once, or 20 pullups at once....without the bulk that I'm packing on. I'm concerned that while running or swimming....that this bulk is going to slow me down....or it's going to give me a poor weight-to-strength ratio.

I don't understand what you mean. You physically can NOT become stronger without gaining muscle mass. Sorry but it's not possible. You will bulk up if you do any strengh training. Running and swimming causes you to gain muscle mass too. It's just you only gain a certain mass that's required the rest is cardiovascular and stamina. But with any type of strenth or resistance training you will gain muscle mass.

That's more a of myth that high reps doesn't cause bulking up.

What it really is, is that low reps with HIGH weights will cause more bulking of the muscles, but doing the reverse doesn't cause you not to bulk up. You see what I'm saying?

Low weights and high rep does cause bulking, just not as much as high weights and low reps.
