So, libs, let's tax the rich into oblivion?

One little problem, that libs are too dense economically to grasp, is the 'evil rich' drive the economy.

So, the more you tax 'em, the less they spend (or hire) which makes it worse for the rest of us.

Liberal socialism is based on envy, laziness and greed. http://kevincraig.us/envy.htm

Is that why liberalism is taking over public education and doing away with 'individualism'?

Funny how it is that we live in the land of milk and honey, the land of opportunity and still, there are those who insist that the game is rigged and that you cannot capitalize on opportunity and make your life and world your own. I don't know. Could those same people all be the product of the leftist, public education system?

Anytime you try and "level the playing field," you have to take from one to give to another. Seems the grass is always greener. If that's the case, wouldn't it make more sense to actually talk to your neighbor and find out what he's doing that you are not, instead of waiting until midnight to sneak out and try to move the fence line without him noticing?

See, the big problem is that you make a bunch of assumptions here. The main assumption you're making, and the one your point hinges on, is that the rich would spend less if money is taken away from them. The problem is that the reverse doesn't hold true: giving them more money doesn't provide more jobs. Ever wonder why? There are two reasons. One is that during a recession, these people tend to build a buffer zone of money, which in effect does nothing but sit there and wait for emergencies. The second reason also involves the recession: no one wants to invest more into their business if they're unsure about sales. Therefore, nothing changes. But the same holds true in reverse because companies want to stay at their current levels. Assuming that rich people will suddenly pull jobs is absurd.

Please, think through this logically. If your point was true, we would have seen less productivity and fewer jobs when taxes were at their highest. That's never proven to be the case. So why would that change now, as a result of a 2.9% tax increase? Sure, if you increased taxes by, say, 10%, you might see some repercussions. But 2.9% is not enough to cause that.

Precisely! It pleases me to see you have been paying attention.

No, the rich do not 'drive' the economy - The rich drive the imaginary economy and I am sure all your linked statistics will very convincingly demonstrate that anyone given a choice between A or B will always choose A or B. Socialism is not based on envy and greed because it does not produce the material of which you allege the socialist is envious and / or greedy (project much?). The rich are astronomically more worthless than worthless because 'worthless' ought normally occur at no cost while the rich occur at a punitive and catastrophic cost. The rich contribute absolute nothing and spoil virtually everything, ownership is not a contribution, it is simple tyranny by threat of violence. Capital does 'enable' constructive action, it prohibits constructive action under any other terms. The rich do not 'drive' an economy, they constrict it, control it and handicap it.

You mean us rich guys should close up a business that nets us a few million a year because the government wants to take away are Bush tax cuts. I don't think so. Of course if I had the choice I'd take the tax cut and even more. Heck, why look a gift horse in the mouth.

Eisenhower taxed the rich 91%. That is not just a liberal thing. The modern day republican gets money from hedge fund managers to do that.

That is their objective because poor people don't hire people while the rich do hire.

So if the comrades in DC want communism they have to tax the rich into oblivion so only the government can hire people.

Actually, the backbone of the economy is the evil small business run by that evil middle class.

The more you ignore this the worse it gets.

And even Reagan raised taxes in a recession.

The rich got tax breaks from Bush. How did that work out? No hiring, loss of jobs/jobs being out sourced. Yup! Worked well. Probably the reason you at this site at this time of day.

Tax them until they bleed, then tax them some more. Money does not trickle down in the USA; for the last 30 years, it has been POURING up.

(GWBush) "Poppa bush what is it like when it trickles down... you know, the whole thousand points of light...?"

(Poppa Bush) "Well son I have never actually seen or heard it, but it was a hell of a idea."
