CONUNDRUM

by C.S. Scotkin

I search for words, such perfect ways to say

My love, the truest feelings I embrace

But have not found them, nor have I met you

And so my lantern burns late hours in vain.

I’ve seen all but your face when dreams roll in

To tease my soul as cool waves tease my toes,

Then disappear before I can react.

There is no image for my heart to hold.

I have to trust that if our paths converge

My search as well as yours be done at last,

This endless search for words of love will end

As our words blend together through the night.

The answer that I seek in silent times,

Which must come first, a sonnet or a love?

Update:

Sonnets get easier the older I get...

Update 2:

I get my new eye tomorrow...it's beautiful and looks great even though it cannot see.

Such heart poured forth on every line.

and in response to the last two lines:

    The idea of love precedes

    whatever form comes forth

    tangibly

    be it verse or prose

    or sighs, no one knows

until it appears to be seen

by the one forming the dream

and know that it will find its own

thanks for the sweet sonnet as a Q :)

Love is a lived sonnet, a serenader. A sonnet, otoh, could be written as a figment of great imagery of a talented word-manipulator poet ( who might never experienced Love, in full sense of the word).

    Nice write, my friend.

    Wish you the best.

The search for those words, like a love unfound

is a worthy quest, outcome, matters not

to not search, a sin, eternity cursed

Yes your mastery of sonnets grows. Sad to hear you have but one eye, but you know that might help focus in the other direction! lol

Sonnets are impossible (for me) and love is difficult :( I'm grumpy on the love subject lately. Nice about your eye!

Sonnets are hard - I find love much easier. Nice pen
