Is 5th grade too early to dye hair?

I colored my hair in the 5th grade and I was a year younger than everyone. It was just fine. My hair was a dingy brown and we did a red brown. It was fun and i really like it. A lot of pageant moms color and highlight and do all that to there 3-5 year old.

Why, is she going gray?

I think dying a child's hair is ridiculous. And parents wonder why kids want to grow up so fast and have sex and wear makeup and get tattoos... Let the kid be a kid!

I'm in my 30s and my hairdresser told me NOT to dye my hair, even though I have grays. She said it's one of the worst things you can do, all those chemicals. Hair dye boxes state, "Do not use on children."

honestly i think 5th grade is a little too young... i wanted to get my hair dyed then too... but the most my mom let me do was get blonde highlights in 6th grade...if she's dying it blonde, no matter what it will have to be bleached, and bleaching your hair is really bad for it. i think she should wait until 7th grade, she's still young and personally i don't think she's old enough to make a decision like that...plus blonde hair is hard to maintain depending on what color hair she has now...

No. My neice is in Kindergarden and her parents dyed her hair and her sisters (whos 2)

They did cause thiere mom had dyed her hair and wanted some too. It's wash out though and chemical free.

If my kids want to dye their hair, we'll dye their hair, why not?

Certainly 5th grade is not too early - you often see girls that age who dye a pluck of their hair.

heck yes!!! at that age it's poseurish and fake. wait at least until 7th or even 8th grade. in 5th grade it gives people the impression that she's trying to grow up too fast and trying to be someone she's not. no. not in 5th grade.

honestly no one can decide for you or your daughter if she wants to let her try you can always change it back

Let if she wants to, I don't think anyone will make fun of her. I think she is old enough.
