GH: Is this marathon of older shows making anyone else miss the golden days of GH?

I am really enjoying watching these old GH episodes from '96 and '97. I love seeing some of the older characters who have moved on and I love watching the old credits and hearing the "Faces of the Heart" theme song. But the downside to watching these older episodes is that it's reminding just how much better the show was back then. GH used to be a real high-quality show. Back in the 90s when Claire Labine ran the show it was different. The characters were so much deeper than they are today. Once Guza took over then everything changed and started to go downhill. Many of the characters who are still on the show are mere shadows of who they used to be. So as much as I'm loving watching these old shows from the 90s it's making me kind of sad because I wish that GH could be this good again. Is anyone else having this same reaction?

Yes, yes, a million times yes!

GH was the best in the '90s, and Guza just messed it up. I really hate that guy, and he needs to be fired for ruining GH! I loved watching the old time GH's, because it was good to watch it from back in the day when all was good... I still watch old episodes from the '90s of GH on YouTube. I mean, sometimes I'd rather watch repeats from the early days of GH then watch what they have now.

Oh, yes! I actually got teary-eyed at the opening credits. So many great characters gone, so many great actors who have passed away. And yes, it reminded me of how great GH used to be. I still love the show, but back then... And that wasn't even the real hay day. The late 70s, the days of Luke and Laura, was the absolute best. But I had forgotten how good it still was in the late 90s. I miss the romance and passion of those days. It made me sad too and I also wish (hope?) that it could be that good again.

When I was a teen I would watch GH and act it out, and wish could be one of the beautiful girls (Brenda, Robin etc) I would smile and pretend. Clearly the show doesn't have that much of an impact on me today (I'm no longer a teen :) but I never find myself getting into the soaps as much as I used to. I love the Brenda marathon, I wish that GH was still this good. :(

I read somewhere that ABC might be showing old episodes one day a week at some point as a money saving venture. Never saw any more about it after that so I've got no idea if it is true or not. Truthfully I was prepared not to like the 3 epi thing, but found myself enjoying it. That was when GH was really good. Oh, for the old days!!!

YES! It was so lovely to see everyone that is no longer with the show or no longer living. This was when GH wasn't so mob-centric and family, relationship driven. I miss those days. I think Guza has almost ruined GH. They used to be number 1 in ratings and they haven't been able to say that in a loooong time.

For sure! I wish that we weren't losing soapnet channel because then maybe there would be a hope that they could show some "classic General Hospital" from episode 1! I used to be on the edge of my seat, but now I can almost accurately predict what will happen.

It made me sad because GH has really lost it's flair for good stories and mixing it up with ALL the characters especially the vets.

Can you say "Nostalgia"? I remember the good old days of GH, I totally remember why I started watching. I miss how good it used to be, it's ok now but then it was GREAT! I find myself thinking about how things have changed so much (in reality as well). I remember how I used to want to be Brenda haha. LOVE IT!
