Could I have gained muscle weight?

So over the winter I lost about 8 pounds, and was doing good at keeping them off.. Then I went away for 2 weeks, didn't exercise or eat right and gained a lot of it back. Since gaining it back I lost about 4, but kind of plateaud there. And I've been running for cross country for the past few weeks, and very intensely for the past week and a half, so I feel like I should've lost more. Is it possible of conceivable that I couldve gained muscle in that short of time?

    The muscle cells are probably retaining more fluid in order for them to function with all of the running. Your blood volume has probably also increased a little. Not a bad thing.
