Is honor and pride important to the modern world?

I'm looking for serious answers. I had this question stuck in my head today after watching Mulan last night. I want to hear your opinions : D

They are very important, but sadly they are not as prevalent as they were in the past. For example honor thy mother and father, honoring wedding vows - surely behaviors have slipped here. Pride in workmanship has also slipped. Of course I am not saying that those virtues have vanished, I am just saying that they are important virtues that are not as observable as in the past. I think "greed" has taken over a bit. Mulan, nice movie.
