Why has Muslim hate become acceptable?

Most people would not allow someone to make sweeping hate filled statements about all blacks, whites,or Asian peoples. Many would fight if a church or Synagogue was not allowed to be constructed on US soil. Few believe that people who kill abortion doctors, have lynched black people, or who believe the Katrina and Haiti earthquakes were a punishment from God represent all of Christianity. Etc, etc...So why is such sweeping hate for Muslims acceptable? Why are so many punished for the actions of so few and why do we accept it in a land where "freedom" and "liberty" are such oft used words? Does it not extend to all citizens?

Update:

Lib Nem: Do you ever watch the news? Catch anything about NY Mosque, or Nashville, or Temecula, Calif...Pay more attention.

Update 2:

Jared: 9/11 was done by Al Qaeda, not all of the practitioners of Islam.

Update 3:

You are probably right Claire.

Update 4:

Common sense: You have poor logic. Christians too pick and chose what they want to follow in the bible. Remember, at one time the bible was used to support slavery.

How can you say Americans believe in freedom of religion while they are not allowing Muslims to practice their religion in peace? And Muslims are not the only religion that wanted to kill non-believers. Read your history books on the Crusades.

Update 5:

Zonie: Why is building a Mosque 2 blocks away from ground zero, "in your face"? What would you say is a "respectful" distance from ground zero? It appears to not be California or Tennessee either.

Since extremist Muslim terrorists have basically caused the country to get involved in two wars, people have made sweeping generalizations of all Muslims.

If you take a look at propaganda from World War II, you'll see that generalizations like this were also acceptable to make about the Japanese and the Germans.

People will get over their irrational fears and hatred eventually, but as long as the US has got the Middle East on its mind, expect the bigotry to continue.

I don't see any sweeping hatred of Muslim people. I have clients who are Muslim. Americans object to radical Islam who seek to destroy us and our way of life. Why are we expected to roll over and be the ones who observe tolerance? Radical Muslims do not.

Americans object to the "in your face" plan to build a mosque near ground zero. That is an insensitive act and the supposed motive that it is to honor those killed on 911 is a bunch of BS. Let's just build a statue of Hitler next to a Jewish Temple to honor holocaust victims. Makes sense to me. Would Christians or Jews even be permitted to build a church or temple in an Islamic country? No.

I see bashing or derogatory comments about Christians & Jews on YA much more often than I do Muslims. People are afraid to criticize Muslims or Muhammad because, unlike Christians, they might blow you up. Look at the controversy and threats that erupted when cartoons depicting Muhammad were posted in a Danish newspaper in 2005. People blaspheme Christ and where is the public outrage? Sorry I don't agree with your assessment of Muslim hatred. More of the Muslims living in this country need to denounce the actions of their radical Muslim brothers.

Racism hasn't somewhat long gone everywhere interior the previous few many years, yet I do agree that the information superhighway has replace right into a sanctuary for racists to vent their racist suggestions and discover kindred souls in others who experience the comparable way that they do. i think of it somewhat is becoming much less and much less laptop to assert many of the flaws human beings could by no potential have voiced ten years in the past. particularly after the election. we've seen what the no longer user-friendly-center McCain/Palin electorate had to assert approximately Obama. They sound like we are back interior the 60's.

Americans believe in peace and freedom of religion. Muslims believe in death to all who don't worship thier religion. Did you want to hear the truth, there it is.

How can you worship the Koran if you don't believe in it, you can't just pick and choose the passages that are comfortable to your life style, then you would be a Christian liberal.

It's not just muslim hate. There's always a season for hate with conservatives.

They always rotate their hate focus to blacks, hispanics, muslims and homosexuals depending on the time.

Right now its muslim hate season. Around spring they hate hispanics. In the winter they hate blacks. The rest of the time they hate homosexuals. Tea bags and conservatism is an ideology based on white supremacism and hatred.

Irrational fear, blaming the religion seems more logical than the individuals who grossly misused it.

What 'sweeping hate'? I have Muslim friends myself and they've mentioned nothing like that whatsoever
