Did you know that George W. Bush celebrated 8 Ramadan dinners in the White House?

So, if I was a right-winger I would be telling you all that George W. Bush is a secret muslim and a supporter of terrorists, right? :)

"The dinner follows in the tradition of former President George W. Bush, who held eight Ramadan dinners in office to stress that America’s war with violent extremists was not a war with Islam. Despite that outreach, Mr. Bush became a polarizing figure to many Muslims, in large part because of the Iraq war and his staunch support for Israel."

    No, I didn't know that.

Ramadan is a way for a Muslim to purify, and rededicate himself; it didn't seem to work for Bush.

I guess it was just another publicity stunt - like that "carrier landing," and "Mission Accomplished" banner. Just more of the empty theatricals that the neocons were so good at. Bush even gave up golf in "solidarity" with the families of the troops of whom he had so irresponsibly caused the deaths of.

I can imagine the outrage that would come from the right if President Obama had had the close ties with any Muslims, let alone the bin Laden family, that Bush had, since conservatives seem to think that all Muslims are terrorists. But at the same time, why did Bush lose interest in Osama bin Laden, attack Iraq, and dispose of Saddam instead? This from The Denver Post:

"Bush ties to bin Laden haunt grim anniversary

    09/12/2006

Bush claimed we'd bring back Osama bin Laden "dead or alive."

But the more we learn about the ties between the Bush family and the bin Ladens, questions like this one pop up: Did Bush really want to capture him?

With fewer than 50 ground troops surrounding the massive Tora Bora region in the mountains of Afghanistan where bin Laden was hiding, ground commanders pleaded for 800 more soldiers, according to Gary Berntsen, the CIA field commander whose book "Jawbreaker" goes into amazing detail about the botched paramilitary operation. Berntsen and other ground commanders said the U.S. let Osama bin Laden get away.

Was this because of President George Bush's close ties to the bin Laden family?

In 1978, Bush and Osama bin Laden's brother, Salem bin Laden, founded Arbusto Energy, an oil company based in Texas.

Several bin Laden family members invested millions in The Carlyle Group, a private global equity firm based in Washington, DC. The company's senior advisor was Bush's father, former President George H.W. Bush. After news of the bin Laden-Bush connection became public, the elder Bush stepped down from Carlyle.

Interestingly, on Sept. 11, 2001, members of the Carlyle Group - including Bush senior, and his former secretary of state, James Baker - were meeting at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Washington, D.C., along with Shafiq bin Laden, another one of Osama bin Laden's brothers.

While all flights were halted following the terrorist attacks, there was one exception made: The White House authorized planes to pick up 140 Saudi nationals, including 24 members of the bin Laden family, living in various cities in the U.S. to bring them back to Saudi Arabia, where they would be safe. They were never interrogated.

Five years later, and we're still asking questions. We may have lost our innocence but we're also losing, thankfully, our ignorance."

If say, Bush and Obama are both actually working the same agenda, albeit with different dinner jackets on, it wouldn't make all that much difference anyway.

Patriot Act (aka "citizens are chattel act") -- rubberstamped by Obama.

US Treasury -- still infested with Goldman Sachs alumni.

Transparency in legislation -- HA HA HA HA

"No former lobbyists in my administration" -- Oh fer sure.

"Federal Reserve Forced by Democrat Congress to Come Clean" -- Orson Wells? Is that you?

Better to step back and look wider than surface appearances. Certain trends are consistent in recent years no matter who is in the White House.

What a guy he was. Muslims in the White House. Well, I hope they understood. I'd hate to think of a radical Muslim(S), making their home the White House.

Are you saying that he is a Muslim like B. Hussein Obama?

    I kid...I kid.

I am going to say this for the millionth time.

It doesn't matter which religion Obama is. It doesn't matter which nationality he actually is.

He is still a shady politician who has Marxist views but loves the luxuries of capitalism too much to practice what he spent his whole life preaching.

I believe that this loser felt that it would be easy go from community organizing to being the President but is learning that we have something called an economy and that liberal math relies on absolutely everything to be in synch with everything else or we will have problems.

We have problems...then again, you will figure it out when you start seeing the world outside of Cornell University.

    Good luck!
