Trying to remember a superb Mexican film on TV from around 5-6 years ago?
Now, I usually don't have time for vague questions, so I will try to be as specific as I can.
Around 2004 or 2005 there was an excellent Mexican (I think it was Mexican, but it MIGHT have been Spanish)(here we go!) film on Channel 4 (or Film 4). My recollection is that it was about a group of people in the desert under siege from a group of rather nasty 'bandits'. The film followed the struggle of the besieged people in outwitting and defeating the bandits to escape. I seem to remember a young boy escaping and trying to reach help, a scene with a large truck (either someone escaping or being captured) and a rather bloody ending to the film.
I know this is a long shot, but I want to try to get the film on DVD. None of the lists of 'top Mexican films' have revealed this among them and so I am hoping that someone else might have seen this film and can point me in the right direction.
Fingers crossed!

Grim Fandango - thanks for trying to help. I had already scoured quite a few lists of 'best Mexican films' and the like. I'm afraid the IMDB site revealed nothing new (its search parameters seem a little too wide).
Fandango: Thanks, I'm going to give them a try!
i.jones: Sorry if this gives you a sleepless night. If you remember it, you'll be my real-life hero as well as my Lost Ark one.

I always find imdb.com's search feature very helpful. I don't think it's ever let me down.
I'm afraid I don't know the name of the movie, but I've entered some keywords into search and came up with these few options: http://www.imdb.com/keyword/desert/mexican/?title_...
You can continue to narrow down the results by clicking on any keywords (under 'Refine by Keyword') at the right which you think would apply to the film.
Or if you wanted to start from scratch: http://www.imdb.com/Sections/Keywords/
Good luck!
Source(s): EDIT: Hmm, that's disappointing. How about asking on the Film General board? There are people there who seem to know every film ever made and love questions like these. http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000007/threads/ - I. JonesLv 71 decade ago
I'm pretty sure I recall the film (as a theatrical release, not TV). It had a one-word title that is on the tip of my tongue. You'll have me thinking about this all day long -- then the answer will pop in my head about 3:14AM. :-(
... seriously, I'll try to come up with it.
Edit 1:"Traffic" per chance? Based on the BBC4 series Traffik. It's not the one I was thinking of, (judging by the poster art) but I haven't opened that particular door in the back of my brain yet.

Edit 2: I opened the door, and found myself on the other side of the world. The film I was thinking of is "Babel" which is set in Morocco. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0449467/ Fine film, none the less.

Zorro!
(Just kidding, I actually have no idea! But I couldnt resist saying that - even though Zorro was not Mexican)
