I try to treat all people equally and how I wish to be treated.
Some people push buttons more easily and they may sometimes find a different but equally applied treatment.
(add) @ Quetzalcoat: you're wrong...I don't loan money to anyone, equally; and I don't ask to borrow it from them either, equally. The few times I've had family or friends in dire need, I GIVE them money without expectations of return. I have done the same with strangers. Perhaps you call names because you lack the intelligence to find words past that, and you judge because you fear your own failures may not be shared by all of mankind. Good luck with that.
btw, the question wasn't what the rest of the world would do, or 99.99999999% would do, but what one would do personally.

Just personally, I seem to treat everyone a little differently, or at least I have several different "styles" that apply to different swaths of those I meet. But the surrounding, environment situation make a difference even there. So, I really cannot articulate any hard and fast rule as to why I behave differently, treat others differently, etc. And things can change with new information.

There is no such manual, because we don't own ourselves. God does. Or Mother Nature, the equivalent, etc. - Peppers_GhostLv 71 decade ago

I like 'wise uncle sol's' answer.... It's sweet
I just dont believe it
If a friend or lover asks you for the loan of £10.... do you treat them exactly the same as a random guy on the street asking for the loan?
I know I wouldn't..... and I doubt that 99.99999999% of the population would either.
but, perhaps I am being too harsh... perhaps 'wise uncle sol' is an angel in human form (or a loony)

Those 'like me' I treat as I like being treated myself.
Those I like I treat ... more respectfully...
A cousin, a best friend, I would laugh and spank in the ***.
A father, a mother, a person I admire ... I would not.

If someone is mean, rude, cruel or anything like that i will be polite but i will not try to hang around them too much.
Other than that, i try to accept most people. I really like diversity and people who are different than me :D its interesting to delve in cultures of people around the globe.
Have a nice day.

It depends !!!!!!!!!
When it is entirely MY DISCRETION as to how I say and do something without considerations beyond my PERSONAL CHOICES ALONE then I will show preference.
HOWEVER
It is commonplace circumstance that opinions of others are equal to or of greater importance than my own and they have consequences of some ethical nature, affecting me and/or those close to me and I must therefore strive for equality towards all I encounter regardless of my personal preferences.

I treat everyone with the same respect they show me. So if I receive none, I give none.

treat people with respect and you and you will get the same in return

I don't think so, but our life experience shape our point of view & reactions, so there is bound to be some kind of difference.
