How do you report a bar for smoking (in michigan)?

Is there a number that I can call to report smoking in a bar?

Update:

IT IS THE LAW, and having other bars not follow it only hurts the ones that are. (like mine)

I think you can call the dispatcher at your local police dept. It's warm enough that people can smoke outside and contrary to the other poster about it affecting small businesses blah, blah, blah second hand smoke is a really bad thing.

It's likely that they will place a call to the venue and see what's going on with the smokers.

I was a bartender for years when people smoked in bars - I never smoked - and I had chronic respiratory issues the whole time. Bronchitis, nasal infections, shortness of breath etc.

These all disappeared when they passed the no smoking laws inside bars and restaurants.

Smokers will disagree with me - they always do - they think they should be able to smoke anywhere and everywhere.

If there was just one smoker or maybe a few, I would go up to them and tell them that it is the law and that they have to stop. Tell them it is not only endangering themselves, but you as well. If this does not work try telling the bar manager. Call the police if a lot of people are smoking.

The new Michigan Law banning smoking is enforced by your County Health Department and not local law enforcement. Local law enforcement can only enforce local trespassing laws if the person smoking refuses to put out their cigarette and the bar wants the patron removed.

you can report to bar manager. otherwise you can ask for private room or plase for non smoking. but rule is more then 38 seat bar can allow smoking and non smoking area in the bar

Please don't. I am not a smoker but I find these ordinances as completely unfair to small businesses.... especially for a drinking establishment. One smoker tends to spend more and tip better than a non-smoker.

If you live in Michigan where unemployment is over 20% I beg you to not possibly close down a business.

People smoke, just because you don't like it go to a different bar. You're a party pooper for sure.
