The correct thing to do is to tell the 12-25 year olds you will see lurking here to not discuss literature that was made for adults.

If I haven't read a "thing", I'm unlikely to comment on it, unless what the "thing" says is summarized and a conclusion that is well contradicted by the known evidence is drawn. For example, I haven't read all of the Qu'ran, but I do not that man was not made 5 or 6 times from 5 or 6 different things.

I have read various other religion's "books" in their entirety and some of them several times.

I have read your sentence and I am now commenting on it. Your sentence is incomplete and doesn't really give a specific reference of what atheist comment on without reading. If you are referring to the Bible then I have read the whole book can you say you have done the same? If you are referring to the Twilight series no I have not read it and do not intend to but, I have no problem about commenting that it is stupid.

Often, it's a typical, predictable argument that has been laid out hundreds of times already. I can see the direction its going just by reading the first few bits.

At least thats my excuse for commenting on something that I haven't read entirely.

Did you know that less than 10% of Christians have actually completely read the bible? And yet it is the best-selling book in all of history. Looks really nice on the coffee table, though.

Actually, you'll find that many atheists, especially atheists who have deconverted from Christianity, HAVE read the bible. I've read the bible 4 times in it's entirety. That's 4 times more than most of you.

For various reasons. One can have knowledge based on learning other than reading: listening to lectures, TV, discussions, life experience, etc.

Many atheists I know have a better reading comprehension of the Bible than many christians do.

You do realize that most atheists have read the bible? We don't like to discuss things we haven't familiarized ourselves with.

I'll leave that kind of sloppy thinking to fundamentalists and creationists.

Does your generalization include ordained ministers who have left the church, you know, people like me? If I were you I would never challenge someone like me on the subject. Unless you have specifically attend college level Bible Classes you will find yourself quite fully embarrassed in a matter of a very few minutes.
