    Flouting the rules... Flaunting is to parade or display oneself conspicuously,defiantly or boldly. Flouting is to treat with disdain,scorn,or contempt,scoff at,mock at,or gibe.

    To disdain something means you hold it in contempt, you look down upon it. So you would be flouting convention.
