Weather in Orlando Florida?

I'm going to Disney World on Wednesday, and will be staying about three days. My fiancee and I had an international trip planned, and that fell through at the last minute. Bummed that we were not going to get our vacation, we decided to make a spur of the moment Disney trip (we live in North Carolina). Well, caught up in our excitement for Disney World, we were stupid enough not to check the weather...and now that I'm looking at it, thunderstorms are predicted for all week.

Anyway, my question is about weather in Orlando. I still plan to go (hell, it's Disney. There are lots of things to do even if it rains!), but I was wondering if we were completely out of luck for the outdoor rides and stuff (Test Track and Mt. Everest are my FAVORITE!).

I had heard that Florida gets a surprising amount of rain this time of year, but it typically moves in and out pretty quickly. I was wondering if this is true, and if there is a chance we will still be able to enjoy the outdoor rides that would otherwise be closed during a storm.

Thank you!

Update:

I know they close down the rides in thunderstorms. I was just wondering if what I heard about Florida storms not lasting long was true. Thanks :D

Lately it has been very hot and very humid. We are in our summer pattern of weather that causes thunderstorms during the late part of the day. It is never a total washout though. The thunderstorms usually come in the early or late afternoon and play themselves out within a few hours.

The rain is actually a relief because it cools the air temperature down for a few hours. Needless to say, Orlando during August is very hot. Drink plenty of fluids and wear sunscreen. Bring a poncho and a hat. During the rainstorms, if you are in the parks, stop for a bite to eat. There are plenty of things that will keep you out of the rain. There are indoor type rides and attractions that will keep you dry also. You will have a great time regardless of how the weather treats you.

In a normal year the storms last 30-90 minutes max. However, recently we have been getting two or three inches of rain a day. Today it rained for three or four hours straight from about three in the afternoon to well after six. Be prepared. We have had more rain and storms lasting longer than normal.

If there's a thunderstorm, they usually close down the rides till it's over. But usually, it doesn't last very long, so you could go eat or something during that time. They don't close down the rides if it's just a little rain. Sometimes, they will close if it's down pouring. It's all for your safety. Have a nice trip!

that's going to likely be warm so once you're nonetheless packing your case then take out something different than shorts / T shirts. you are able to choose a protracted sleeved precise yet this could merely be to placed on in case you bypass out to consume or save someplace the place the air con is desperate to freezing. you are able to actual purchase a plastic rain poncho once you get there - the main inexpensive ones are from Walmart, value approximately $2 and are like wearing a dry cleansing bag ! subject parks basically close if there is lightning or a close-by section hurricane warning in stress.
