Do you ever watch any kind of local news programs? If so, why?

And how can you stomach it, really? I'm just wondering...

I seriously can't watch the news, especially local news without getting sick to my stomach. It's also pretty difficult to understand how some folks are able to watch news about rapes and murders while having dinner. O.O

I hate the news. I hate it... so, so much. But I watch it sometimes. Sometimes I watch the local news because that's how I know about things that are going on locally. I certainly don't take the newspaper anymore.

I didn't watch the news for 8 months. Then I turned it on just the other day and I saw a woman put a cat in a trash can for no damn reason, a bunch of people acting like religious freedom only applies to religions they agree with, and the cops in my town are just randomly beating the crap out of people. I'm not going to watch it again.

I think I'd rather hear about things in the rest of the world, than locally. I agree. Why should I really care about NYC and Arizona? I presume they know what they are doing, when it comes to immigrant invaders, or where to build mosques. And I'm just old, but I really don't care about Kim Kardassian's new bikini photo shoot. I DID get a kick out of Heidi Montag deciding that her GG implant breasts get in the way of her exercise workout, so she is going back to DD cups. But yes, it's mostly rubbish. I define everything in the USA as rubbish.

Without watching the news the world may be falling apart and here where I am is safe, so without watching the news, as I said, I loose the opportunity to call my beloved friends to come to my place, where, as I mentioned, is safe and warm... and ... without watching the news... I may be responsable for my friends death, in case of a disaster in the area they are near by, because I didn't have the chance to advice them.

    Sad... but happens.

TV networks have discovered that bad news holds the listeners interest,

therefore they are able to sell more products for their sponsors.

Then they try to give you the impression that you are getting the

information on big stories before anyone else can cover it

and since you are first to know, you are special.

Here in US, tv is allowed 16 minutes per hour for promotional material. That is over 25%

of the time. I seldom watch tv anymore because the constant interruptions

    cause me to lose interest.

All major media outlets in US are owed by huge companies. We see and hear

only about what they want us to know about.

I stopped reading the newspaper because I realized reading every day about horrible tragedies was eroding my love for humanity...

(Okay, I've never really loved humanity that much, anyway, but you know what I mean...)
