Has everyone noticed ? That as soon as the word 'Abortion' is included in a?

question in the Adoption section, scads of Pro-Lifers appear? Is there something I am missing at YA...is there an "alert" feature wherein questions that include a keyword/keywords you get an automatic 'alert'? I use the news 'alert' feature with Google with my chosen keywords...does YA offer this as well? If not...how do so many people suddenly appear when the word "Abortion" is used in a question here at YA Adoption? Just curious.

Update:

@7rin...I was being serious...I wasn't talking out of my ***, nor looking for any arguments or debates. I wanted to know if there was an alert, like the Google alert. I stay signed into my Yahoo acct. I never go to the front page of YA, because I always hit the "Most Visited" on my Toolbar. You sound miffed...

Update 2:

ETA: @Mom Lost....yes, I forgot about the Yahoo alerts. Since I use Google alerts, but YA never comes up in my Google alerts. But whatever..alerts are offered and so if one is interested in 'abortion' and YA...then yep, one I guess will be alerted. I have never professed to be a keyword search expert..so thanks for that FYI.

Your question got me thinking so I went to the "Search Y! Answers" button on the top and typed in the word "abortion" and lo and behold, a bunch of questions with the word abortion in them popped up. You can do a more advanced search so it is only the most recent questions with abortion in the title. So, I have a feeling that is what people do in order to find any questions with said word.

i ask your self this...if that is not a toddler , why do you elect an abortion ??? ninety 8 % of abortions committed interior the United Statesare for socio-financial reasons, particularly with the aid of fact the being pregnant could be inconvenient , extra perfect to commit abortion,i've got observed that some women folk who're so strident for "professional determination" will by no ability ought to concern approximately an unplanned being pregnant, Janet Reno is professional determination, case in point.

I don't think it's something as complex as a 'subscribe' function. It's just a matter of pressing buttons. It happens all the time on Facebook. A person can update their status faithfully every day and never get a comment, but as soon as they put something religious, or political, comments start flying!

It's not that people got an alert, it's just that something finally caught their eye and they felt it was their 'duty' to put in their two cents.

Oh, and it doesn't hurt that new questions get posted on the first page you see when you log in to answers, so if the word 'abortion' is there (even if you were going to browse the math questions, as I was just now), it will catch your eye and make you want to read the question. :)

Yes I've noticed it as well and the answers are basically that abortion is murder. That really gets my back up even though I 'lean' more towards being pro life. The reasons I can't call myself pro life are because it's not my place to tell someone what she can and can't do with her baby, abortion will still happen wheter it's legal or not so better it stays legal and there are medical reasons for having abortion. I know from my own personal experience I would rather have dealt with the pain of going against my principles then to live the hell called adoption and destroying two lives. My son suffers because of adoption and why should he when it wasn't his choice.

Gypsy, I noticed the same thing! LOL

I think there IS actually a feature of some sort where you can be alerted to questions that fit certain parameters...Though I could be totally wrong, since I haven't used it to date.

Still though...Seems like quite a coincidence, doesn't it? Hmmmm... :-/

ETA: OK, so I checked it out a bit...It would appear that there are "Saved Searches" on Y!A. So, if you enter a word (say, for example, "abortion"), it will consistently pull up questions containing that word on your front page.

I'm open to being corrected, but as far as I can tell, you were right. It is, essentially, an alert system to scout questions of interest from a variety of categories.

A lot of people are passionate about abortion, one way or another, so it makes sense that they all show up like a swarm of locusts as soon as the word is used in a question.

  • Not familiar with their mentality, but the fact that the term "baby broker" has come up, it's highly likely that people who profit from baby brokering, view abortions as bad for business, there is no moral outrage, just the opposite, there is probably anger at a missed potential profit from selling a baby overseas.

I have noticed that as well..... the bottom line is abortion = less money for the adoption agencies... Trust me, If cloning babies was legal , Adoption agencies would be all over it...

Same as in many places - they see an answer they want pouncing on (from whichever direction the question was asked), and then go over to wherever they "live" and call out the troops.

This isn't specific to just stuff like abortion and adoption, it even happens on Operating System discussions, and all sorts.

C'mon, we do it ourselves, so it's not like we're not part of the same issue (if calling for back-up in a debate actually constitutes being an issue).

Source(s): ETA @ OPs add: I didn't say (nor even imply, afaict) that you were talking out of your arse, and am confused where you picked that up from? I'm not being funny, it's what happens. If us "anti-adoption lot" do it, why wouldn't you think that other groups also do it? Less miffed, more just stating a fact in my own, usual, blunt way. :)

I figured that there are people who do Open Question searches under "abortion".
