Knowledgable Catholics: Can you please answer this question concerning saints?

Hello there,

Saint Therese promised that she would send roses from Heaven as a sign that a prayer had been answered (or at least, noted of). Are there any other saints, like Saint Therese, that promise signs/signal graces for an answered prayer/novena?

Thanks

Our Blessed Mother also used roses as a "sign" to the Bishop (see the story of St. Bernadette). Interestingly, her body did not decompose for many years, and many who witnessed her exhumation reported the smell of roses.

Our Holy Mother's image on the "tilma" or poncho of Juan Diego is still visible after hundreds of years, even though cactus fibers (what it's made of) usually decompose after around 50 years.

For the most part, saints do not provide such "proofs." We ask them to pray FOR us and WITH us, but saints have no power to answer our prayers. Only God can do that. We invite their prayers as anyone would ask for members of their community to pray for them and with them. They are honored as role models of obedience to God, but have no special powers of their own. God works through them to help inspire us, and to assist us in achieving grace.

Source(s): Edit: strpnta St. Bernadette's body was buried like the poor nuns in that era - there was no embalming. Her body was exhumed thirty years later and was barely decomposed at all. Her face was still visible and recognizable and she should have been bones at that point. Many people who were there reported a scent of roses when her body was exposed. Others reported no scent of decay. Many years since then, Yes, they have started to use some wax over her face & hands, for public viewing, but the fact remains that her body shouldn't have ANY flesh on it at all at this point. Her body should have been bones & dust long ago. It is miraculous, but you can believe or disbelieve as you like. St Anthony of Padua. Finds missing objects so if you find that item, I guess you can count it as a sign.

Saint Therese worked for a florist enterprise that was trying to drum up more business with gimmicks like offering free roses from Heaven. It just seemed to cloying and phony to be effective.

How long has it been since she died? I don't remember any news stories about roses falling from heaven.

I heard that she (secretly) was an atheist....maybe this is her way of trying to spell out to others that this bunk just is not true.

Edit: Mariel, that body is wax...and she didn't say she would answer the prayers...just that she'd send roses when it happened.

For Christians, didn't it start with Jesus and his promise to return right away?
