Migraine when pregnant?
I am almost 36 weeks pregnant and I have been up all night with a migrane. I have taken 2 tylenol twice and it is not touching the pain. Is there anything else I can take that is safe for the baby?

unfortunatley no, not in medicine wise, you can buy migrane cool pads that you can stick to your forehead. or try laying down in a dark room! i suffer from migranes normally but when i was pregnant i had the soooo frequently. they are horrible but there isnt alot you can take for them! even when im not pregnant i havent found anything strong enough to work!

i was put on fiorecet by my obgyn i had horrible migraines , and was given that its an extra strength tylenol/caffeine /something else cant remeber , but its specifiically for migraines , and oh my gosh they are awesome , i had migraines bad in my first pregnancy , ask your obgyn about it , they are for pregnant women , and its safe otherwise my ob wouod not have prescribed it to me .
I am pregnant again 4 weeks , and hoping i dont get them this time but if i do i know what to use , for relief . Good luck and call your obgyn or a nurse there .
okay to user below what i meant is pregnant women can take them as well , my god get a grip and dont be so rude .!
Also i took them all the way to the end when needed and i had a healthy 6 pound 3oz 18/3/4 inch baby girl and she is 6 months and doing fine , you dont need to be so dang rude , its called advice , she asked a question i answered , if my answer bothered you that bad then keep your comments to your self or have you not heard that saying before .
Im also pregnant with #2 and will use them again if needed all the way to the end as well , your baby will be just fine i would never take something and give it to my baby if i thought any ounce of harm would be done , .
Okay im done now im pretty hormonal right now so im going stop , but good luck girl and hope you have a wonderful delivery !!!
Wow you are a real piece of work arent you how dare you make comments about my baby weight , you need to be kicked off yahoo answers , or this section you are a very nasty person , shame on you!

I had horrible migraines my first trimester and my OB gave me Tylenol 3 (with codeine). This was perfectly safe early on, but since I don't need it now in the third, I don't know about the safety of it.
Ask your doc in the morning.
First though, eliminate anything that might be causing the migraine. These are typically either not enough water, not enough to eat, or not enough sleep. Take care of the first two and, if you can, lay down and try to rest for a while to take care of the third. Sometimes when all else fails I put a heating pad on my forehead and just lay there and moan, lol.

As the one user stated, ask your doctor about fioricet. No,they're NOT just for pregnant women, but they are a good medication for migraines while pregnant. I was on them before pregnancy, and my mom's on them and has went through menopause,so they're not just for pregnant women. They won't hurt your baby though. Just make sure you take them AS PRESCRIBED,and don't abuse them. They're tylenol/caffeine/butalbitol (a barbituate drug). Ask your dr about them. They're great. They had me on them while pregnant, but after pregnancy I had to go on something else for them b/c the fioricet make me get mean. Just try to not take anything but tylenol in the last month, because anything else can cause the baby to get dependency. Even fioricet will cause the baby to have possible withdrawl after it's born if you continue to take them in the last month/couple of weeks of pregnancy.
Source(s): Been there, done that. Traumatic brain injury before pregnancy caused migraine issues (it's caused them since I got the TBI). Talked to the dr about taking anything extensively before I would b/c the migraines were causing me to not be able to eat, couldn't sleep, etc. It was my own choice to not take anything but tylenol in the last month, and the dr was very happy and supportive of it b/c of the risk of possible dependency. EDIT-Jesus Christ, someone pregnant and hormonal? I was just stating my answer and what I did while pregnant. That's a really small baby. My son was born and he was 8 lb 1 oz. I'm just stating how I did it,and if she chooses to take them until the end that's her decision. What's being found about fioricet though is that they DO have abuse potential. They have a barbituate in them, and they don't really make many drugs with that anymore because of it's addictive tendencies.I'm not being mean about your baby, you just have tiny babies, but I bet they're adorable. All babies are adorable. It's your choice on what to do,I'm just stating what I did to avoid possible dependency with my son. Yes,butalbitol is a drug with an addictive quality, and I chose to not take them the whole time, but tylenol did me fine at the end. - How do you think about the answers? You should call your doc and see if he can prescribe you something that isn't harmful to the baby. Hubby has migraines so after watching him I can't begin imagine what it would be like having one while pregnant.
Best of luck.
