Am I looking for a day of wedding coordinator?

My reception venue sets up my linens and place settings, but I have to set up my centerpieces, my escort cards, any ceremony decor, etc. I am only allowed to come in 2 hours before the wedding, and with all the other things I'll be doing to get ready I highly doubt there will be enough time! I've read over a few duties of the "day of coordinator" from google, and I don't think that's what I'm looking for. Basically I'm looking for someone to come in, put my sashes on my chairs, set up my centerpieces, escort cards, and my flowers for the ceremony. Would a day of coordinator do this? Or who is it that I could hire to do those things?

    The easiest thing to do would probably be to enlist volunteers from your family - helpful aunts, uncles, and cousins - who can be trusted to put the centerpieces on the table and arrange the placecards.

    A day-of coordinator is really there to make sure things go on schedule and that people show up where they're supposed to - not set up flowers - but you could definitely call around to some coordinators/planners in your area and see if they can accommodate you (and how much they charge!). You might also call up hotels in your area that do event planning - it's possible that some of their staff do freelance event set-up.

    In most places, you can find wedding planners for a few hours or a day, but I don't think you need to go that route. It could be expensive. Instead, is there anyone at your workplace (or if not applicable, your mom's or your bridesmaids) who has experience in catering and event planning? A lot of times executive assistants do this kind of work in setting up annual meetings or board meetings. That's all you need here - someone who listens well, is organized, and can think on their feet.

    I'd bet if you don't know someone yourself, these folks would, and this would be ideal, because they'd know the person is reliable. And I'd think they'd be happy to do this and earn a little extra cash. And then you'd meet with the person a few days before (ideally at the venue) and go over what you want done.

    Does the church or ceremony venue have someone that is the wedding coordinator for the ceremony location? Perhaps you could pay her another $50 for that work. Otherwise, I'd ask a friend of a friend kind of thing. Someone you could trust, but who would look at it as a job, not a favor. I wouldn't ask a guest or a bridesmaid, they'll have enough to do.

    you need to recruit some friends who are attending your wedding! I have set up and decorated many weddings for my friends in the past. just ask some of your friends who will be going anyway if they can pick up the escort cards and centerpieces from you the week before the wedding, and tell them how to set them up.

    as for your flowers, the florist should be delivering those to the venue so you don't have to worry about it.

    What state do you live in? I am currently becoming a wedding planner and their are many woman like my self out there looking for work. try craigslist or putting out a ad in your local paper. depends on how much you want to spend.
