May I point out that...?
In Genesis 1 it is written...
3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. 4 God saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness. 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.
However, in creating light, God would have to simultaneously create darkness?
Also, how is it that the Earth is not in existence at this point in time and yet there is somehow day and night? In fact, the second "day" passes without an Earth as well.
In fact Zepton, I have been told from a reliable source (a theology teacher) that in the original document saying Jesus walked on water, in the language written said preposition can mean either on or through.
In 1:1, if you pay attention, the earth is not created as a solid object. May i quote 1:2?
Now the earth was [a] formless and empty
and also, if you pay attention, it is given form AFTER my original quote, in 1:6 and onward:
6 And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." 7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. 8 God called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning—the second day.

In another 50 years the translation will read;
And God said "let there be light" and there was light and you could see for freakin' miles man, like it was awesome.
And then She said "let there be dark" and you couldn't see a freakin' thing! Freaky!

Interesting thoughts. My understanding of physics, though, is that darkness is merely the absense of light.
As for there being no earth on the first or second day, I'm not sure what you're refering to. The opening verses of Genesis state this:
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

In your "pointing out", ya missed Genesis 1:1;, In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth". If ya ever study-ed true, pure science, you would know that all darkness is , is the absence of light. So, that would mean that there was nothing but darkness, Albert Einstein figured that out as a very young boy.
Did you know that true, pure science VALIDATES The Bible at every encounter? Which, is of no surprise, since it was written there, before man had a clue. Where do ya think all these "brilliant" minds got the ideas to puzzle out? Another point of fact, is that The Bible is the ONLY prophetic book written that has a 100% track record. Hmmm, and you want to take issue with that?

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
1: 2And the earth was without form, and void; and DARKNESS was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Maybe you should try reading the rest of the story, note that these are the verses preceding what you are questioning.

Better yet - who the heck was around to know what he said?
If there was no light or dark - how did he see what he was making? (That might explain some weird mistakes like the duck billed platypus)
Well, that is what you get when men write a book supposedly about what a god may have said.
Also, with all the languages in the world, why is it that he chose words in english? If not in English, then every translation lies about what he called Light and Darkness..
The bible - far too many discrepancies..

The earth has already been created at this point. No clue about the first question. Sorry. =)

These are questions best left to God to answer. He was there. We were not.
