Where is the Excalibur sword from the film?
After John Boorman filmed Excalibur, the sword was mysteriously lost, and to this day no one knows where it is. SOMEONE out there MUST have it, and whomever that is has been keeping it a secret for the past two decades. So where is the sword? Who has it? Why do you continue to hide it??

As I recall, Perceval tossed it back into the water, and the Lady of the Lake's hand came up, caught it, and pulled it beneath the surface.
Seriously, though, the odds are that someone on the crew took it home as a souvenir. And they're not talking about it, because they don't want to get in trouble over taking it in the first place.

Hey, I know this is a three year old question, but it came up in a Google search so I figured I'd put the real answer in. John Boorman, the director, has the sword. There is a documentary being made about the movie call Behind the Sword and the Stone, and there is a picture of Gabriel Byrne with the old prop from the promotional images.
I'm curious about where the movie production got the design of the sword from, because if there is any truth to the Albion Swords story behind their sword replica, there was a 17th century painting that was lost at auction that might have been the inspiration for the sword. I'm going to have to track down that documentary when it's downloadable.

there must have been at least 2 swords used in the film, one was broken when Arthur fought Lancelot so there is a half Excalibur somewhere too
