Voice goes croaky randomly please help?

Wondering whats going on, i was sick most of winter and had a croaky voice through most of it. I'm well now but randomly my voice will give out, either goes croaky or ill lose it completely and have to cough to try to get it back. It's embarrasing as i work as a cashier and talk to people all day. Is this something i need to see a doctor about or will it pass. I've been well for over a month now.
