Life is an energy machine that replicates.
Nature is the COMPETITION between these machines.
Love/Society is the COOPERATION between these machines to the end of winning the competition.
Morality is the list of rules required to sustain Society/Love
(Typically variations of the Golden Rule)
Good is when the energy flows the way you want it too.
Evil is when it does not.
As for the purpose or meaning of life.....
A rock lying on the ground has no meaning until some living being picks it up.
Then it becomes a weapon, or tool, or toy, or jewelry......
Meaning arises from DESIRE. Desire arises from LIFE.
Nothing 'means' anything by itself because...
MEANING is what is desired of a thing with respect to a given Lifeform.
By itself the Sun means nothing. But with respect to the LIFE on Earth, it MEANS everything.
So what does life mean?
Simple, the meaning of Life is established by what is desired of it by a given Lifeform.
To a mosquito I am a meal. To my offspring, I am guidance & support. To you I may mean nothing. To myself I am the Universe entire.
What life means with respect to me is based on whether that life helps or hinders my desire.

I think its very easy to miss the point with this question. The idea that a human brain evolved without 'purpose' is unimagineable. Just because some people only use their hands for eating and wanking doesnt mean their ancestors didnt need them for more pressing assignments.
The human purpose is inbuilt, innate and carried forth via genes and [to some extent] culture. The most simple human purpose is the gift of existence. We are all given this gift and we have the tools for prolonging and enriching it. How we choose to use our abilities in our social circles is related to our fulfillment of purpose.
An elaboration to the gift of existence is the conscious mind. When coupled with existence it provides the sense of perspective, the self, empowerment, the sense of being here.. emotions, reactions etc. There is a spectrum of people out there from couch spuds to tightrope walkers, each with their own take on 'purpose'. I would imagine that the tightroper will always have lived a more consciously rich existence and feel like he has fulfilled his purpose where as the atheist potato fails to notice or wants to block his eyes to imagine walking on tightropes. I have nothing specific against atheism apart from the idea that its a movement/philosophy based on vacuosity or the acceptence of vacuosity. Sometimes I think the conscious mind needs to be filled in order to be inspired to fulfill.
So I think our purpose is simply to fulfill our potential.. as the tightrope walker balances, he hones a skill which is of value to the future of the species. This is what is important ..things like happiness and pain are secondary.

The human beings don't have a universal purpose, but individual people do. We create our own dreams and principles, whether it is serving God, sweeping the next Olympics, or bringing up five kids. My purpose may not be your purpose, and the truth for me may not be the truth for you.
And I agree with whoever said Paulo Coelho is a bad philosophical writer. The point of our lives is not to discover ourselves, but to shape ourselves. We might never find the universal truth, so we can only live our lives in a way that we won't regret later on, and not spend all our limited time on earth trying to discover some eternal purpose that may or may not exist.

Paulo Cohelo is a very bad Philisophical author. He has the history of philosophy right but his books are very weak on the subject itself.
There is no answer anybody on this website can give you that you have already asked. The beauty about human life is the mystery, and searching for the answer will only waste the life we have. If it turns out there is no purpose, then the life is wasted. If it turns out there is a larger plan, then you have still wasted the life 'God' has given to you.
The moral is to just live life, don't worry about what's after because you'll be dead before you find the answer

If you were to peel away the layers of a person you would see the light of their presence, you can sometimes see it in people eyes when they are greatly distressed or very happy but its only a glimmer and you look hard it goes almost as if it was never there, like looking at a star at night directly, if you do its light fades. It is the light of our souls, that which is our true self under all the layers of life we hypnotise ourselves with. Our purpose is remember this and for those that have forgotten to find it again, when we see this truth we become truly alive.

The human purpose is service. In serving others, we find meaning for ourselves. We were put on earth to make a contribution.

Some physicists say our purpose is to fire lasers into black holes to make designer universes.
From the perspective of our genes we are just protective vehicles, like a panzer tank.
What your purpose is from your perspective may be a matter of choice.

So good to see you again!
I believe the human purpose is as uniquely different as our own DNA. Although generally speaking, it would be "to serve one another", as does all other forms of life.
It is not so much 'my' presence as it IS the Light of the Lord God within me. :D
Peace and Blessings
To you and yours

The ultimate purpose is to realize oneness with God.
