Anyone else feel like they were born at the wrong time?

I was seriously born at the wrong time. I so could have been the 1950s-60s housewife. Actually basically I am. I do everything I would have then. The only problem is nowadays society considers me a leech? What the hell is up w/ that? My husband loves it. Now don't get me wrong I don't just sit home. I'm an FRG leader(he's in the Army), belong to the Officer Wives Club(which does a ton of charity work), I volunteer at the kids schools whenever they need me. I plan on joining the post historic society next year. So why am I looked down upon. Frankly if more moms stayed home kids would be better behaved and have manners. My children have excellent manners. At 9 & 11 they will be getting involved w/ volunteering through our FRG. Most kids are way too selfish these days. It is totally their parents fault too. Blah, Blah money, money. It's called living w/ in your means.

Yes I have always felt that I don't belong in this time period, I'm not sure which of the 2 though I belong in because I am very much interested in the 1800's time period, I watch a lot of movies based around that time including Time At The Top and I feel like I can relate to that time period, I also like to do a lot of history research for the 1800's and look at any pictures I can find from that time period.

However, I also can relate to the 60's and 70's time period, thing seems more much more simple than they do these days, and I'm really into band groups like the Beatles. I really like the clothing they had and often dress in that time period and i'm interested in finding out most everything that happened then.

I was born in 1984, there are a lot of people that ask me about growing up in the 80's and 90's but it seems that i'm more interested in talking about what happened in history. I just don't feel as though I can relate to others born near or on my year of birth.

No, I enjoy my status as an equal, instead of an inferior being only useful for cleaning and childbearing. However, I think that anyone who looks down on your decision to be a housewife is complete idiot. It is your life and you can do whatever you want with it. What you choose to do in your life is no other person's business.

Pretty much, I enjoy having a choice instead of being forced into a box. I like the option to work if I want to work or stay at home if I wish.

I think that way all the time. Mostly because I adore everything retro (from styles to tv shows and movies), and have issues with todays morals (which are pretty non existent)

I always wish I could've been an adult anytime in the 20s-50s.

much respect to you, but you are looked down upon because women have more rights now so they do more and i wouldn't say you are leech but it seems your not being selfish and living for everyone else but you. what did you want to be when you grew up was it just a mom. I think you should do things for you and its not that kids are selfish they just know what they want the people that are selfish are the ones saying to share cause they want you to share with them. so i suggest you live like there is no tomorrow and do stuff for you and no that doesn't mean forget about your kids. I have no intent to sound rude but if i do my apologies its just my opinion.

Hey I wish I fought for Caesars Legions. Or was a Conquistador. .... But yeah... I hate all the laws and stupidity in this time. It is said that the Wright brothers would have never gotten off the ground, due to their need of obtaining permits, and neighbor consent, and conforming with vehicle regulations, if they tried to invent in this time period.

It seems like you look down on them too. Both of you make an excellent controversy.

They should not look down on you but many women want to work and enjoy it - you should not look down on them either or look down upon dads who stay at either. The world needs all of the kinds you know.
