What is a good jack for jacking rods out of the ground?

I have some soil sampling gear which involves bashing a hollow tube in to the ground. You them have to pull it out again, if you use one jack, then generally the jack will start to lean over due to uneven load. Very expensive purpose made jacks fit over the drive rod, and give a centalsied pull. These jacks are expensive though. Does anyone have an idea for a chepaer alternative. . . . no I don't want to pull them out with my teeth. Yawn.

do a google for ''handyman jacks''. They have a long stroke, all mechanical and work well. I use mine a lot to pull steel fence post, and they are tuff to pull sometimes

I had a Dodge Power Wagon Snow Commander with engine driven hydraulics for the plow lift, it was great for pulling fence posts and the like!

weld a tee piece on the end of the tube and 2 jacks one either side will do it

Looks like you need something like this: http://www.hi-lift.com/post-popper/index.html

With the chain it should do the job you require.
