How do I read a book without getting distracted?
When I was a child, my parents never encouraged me to read a book nor suggested. Now that I am an adult, I find it quite difficult to read through even a chapter. I am very interested with the books I am trying to read.
I really need a good advice. Thank you very much.
Note: The books I am trying to read are actually not boring.
to Koschei: No, it is the first time I asked this question. Thank you for the idea, I think it could actually work! Hopefully.

I seem to remember replying to a question similar to this - I apologize in advance if you are the same person and I am repeating myself, ha ha.
Try reading paragraph by paragraph, rather than by page or by chapter. Force yourself to read one whole paragraph, take a moment to let your mind wander, and then read the next one. Smaller extracts are far less daunting/boring than larger ones, thus making it easier to read and more difficult to get distracted half way through.

Hi,
even though you weren't encouraged to read as a child it should not mean that you are easily distracted from a book you are actually interested in reading. If you find reading large amounts at a time then just read 1 chapter at a time or pick a certain amount of pages, read them and then stop.
PIck somewhere quiet, don't have other things on your mind you need to do, do them first then sit down knowing that you want to read. You may find that once you start reading and getting into the book that you surpass the goals you set for yourself because you get carried along by the story.
all the best

set a time limit for reading, say about half an hour per day to begin with, not a chapter limit or so many pages otherwise you may feel it is a chore. Turn the TV and mobile phone of, but listening to quiet background music is OK. Think about what you have just read in the half hour, then you will begin to look forward to the the next day for another read, a bit like watching a daily soap. Eventually you get into it and read more per day.

Maybe it's a boring book. Try something different. Read the summary of it first, see if it's your type, etc.

Get a better book! Different people are interested in different things, I like crime novels, find most other stuff dull!
