My daughters are 4 and 6 and love to wear nail polish. I almost never wear it, but they use it almost all the time. Now they're old enough to put it on their own nails, so I let them do it as long as they put a paper down and stay at the table.

I don't see a problem with using nail polish, unless she's young enough to chew on it, or if she bites her nails.

You may want to wait until she's old enough to apply it and maintain it herself, just to make it easier on you.

If you're talking about going to a manicurist and all that, wait until she's old enough to earn it in some way, either by paying for it herself or as a reward for chores or good grades.

Actually, earning the privilege is a good idea no matter how old she is.

  • My daughter's toenails are painted and she's 15 months old.

If she can sit still to get nail polish put on, I say she can wear it. Nail polish is cute on little girls.

At any age, if she wants to.

But if her nails start to turn yellow, that's a precaution.
