I just rescued a kitten thats between 6 & 8 weeks old. He's eating moistened kitten chow, does he need pablum?
His appetite seems to be fine. I hope to get him to the vet soon. I just want to make sure he survives until then.

"Pablum"? That's cereal meant for HUMAN babies. So no - absolutely not. Cats are OBLIGATE CARNIVORES. You "hope" to get him to the vet soon? What does that mean? He needs a vet NOW to make sure he's OK. The vet can estimate his age and he's younger than you think give you some substitute mother's milk to feed him.
If you "can't afford" a vet then you have no business keeping this kitten. Surrender it to your nearest no-kill shelter - TODAY.

If the kitten is eating moistened kitten chow, I would just continue with that and put down both milk (whole) and water.. let the kitten drink the milk but pick it up after about an hour and put fresh down. I don' t see the need for the pablum if kitty is eating and drinking fine now. It's really not made for animals anyhow. I'd also call the vet and see what they recommend. What you are trying to simulate is how often kitty fed from mom. Just remember that is a very small tummy you are feeding.
Just make sure the litter box sides are not too high for the little one. And as for bedding a small, blanket lined box for snuggling works great.

The moistened kitten chow is perfect, you can add Mothers replacement milk to his diet as well, sold in your local pet stores, and sometimes the supermarkets have it,in the pet aisle,by the shampoos and things for them. Pet Sores defeinately have it. Lot's of vitamins in this,as the name already tells you. Sure add pablum if he/she likes it,cannot keep he/she to healthy right! Good luck with your new baby!

As long as he is eating kitten food on is own he'll be fine. Keep in mind most kittens are weaned completely by this age.

I got my kitten at quite a young age, and she was already eating kitten food. He will be fine. I'm glad you care about animals so much. I do too!
