Rossi 972 Rear sight broken. Anyone know where to buy a new one?

I have a Rossi R97206 357 Magnum revolver with the 6 inch barrel in stainless steel that somehow got the rear sight broken. I love this gun and would love to have it back in service but I can not find the part anywhere. I am hoping that someone out there has a connection or a real answer for me because I have been looking for years now with no luck. Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me out here.

If it is a BrazTech manufactured revolver you should be able to get the part from Rossi/Taurus--I've included a link to their "Repair Policy" page--they may require you to order the part through a dealer; and I'm afraid their Dealer List is woefully out of date. You might be able to find the part at Numrich or Jack First--I've included links to them as well.

If it is an older model imported by Interarms the sight currently produced by BrazTech may fit or it may not. You'll probably just have to order one and take your changes. I haven't dealt with Taurus in a few years, but they used to have a reputatoin for not being very helpful in matters like this.

Taurus Firearms bought Rossi some time ago. They might be able to help. The Taurus customer service number is 305-624-1115

I would go with the removable carry handle. You can easily put a flip up rear sight on it or a very wide range of optics at a later date. Learn to shoot the rifle first using just the sights on the carry handle at first. Once you master iron sights, optics will be a tool, not a crutch.

Have you tried Midway, Brownell's or Numrich? My experiance has been that if they dont have it, you dont need it. It would be helpful to know how the rear sight is attached, the odds are it can be replaced with an aftermarket better one.

While i agree with you that religion has to be separated from the state and the state must be secular because the state has to represent every citizen, beyond their beliefs, i dont agree with that you atheists deny that persecution comes from both sides. Believers are bullied, mocked, discriminated and marginalized by atheists on daily bases, everywhere, in the society. None has to be bulled or mocked for his beliefs. Atheists make fun of believers and they too shove their atheism down believer's throats by saying ''God is not real''. Obviously, to me as a believer, God is real so you have no right to force your beliefs upon me, because that is what atheism is|: A BELIEF, not a written fact. God is not a fairy tale. God is a Philosophical notion that ties to every philosophical system in the world. As the great scientist, James Clerk Maxwell said : ''I have looked into most philosophical systems in the world and i have seen that none will work without God'' . Its a pity that because of your personal beef with church and religion you dont give a chance to the possibility that there might be a God out there, a Supreme Entity, not necessarily the God of Church but perhaps a deity, an intelligent designer. You would be surprised to know how many prominent scientists of the past and present believe in God or at least in a Supreme Deity. Here are few quotes of them: “The more I study science, the more I believe in God.I want to know how God created this world. I am not interested in this or that phenomenon, in the spectrum of this or that element. I want to know his thoughts; the rest are details.” “Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind.” –Albert Einstein

“God created everything by number, weight and measure.” “In the absence of any other proof, the thumb alone would convince me of God’s existence.” “I have a fundamental belief in the Bible as the Word of God, written by those who were inspired. I study the Bible daily.” –Sir Isaac Newton, who is widely regarded to have been the greatest scientist the world has ever produced.

“God is the author of the universe, and the free establisher of the laws of motion.” –Physicist and chemist Robert Boyle, who is considered to be the founder of modern chemistry.

“Both religion and science require a belief in God. For believers, God is in the beginning, and for physicists He is at the end of all considerations… To the former He is the foundation, to the latter, the crown of the edifice of every generalized world view.” “There can never be any real opposition between religion and science; for the one is the complement of the other. Every serious and reflective person realizes, I think, that the religious element in his nature must be recognized and cultivated if all the powers of the human soul are to act together in perfect balance and harmony. And indeed it was not by accident that the greatest thinkers of all ages were deeply religious souls.” –Max Planck, the Nobel Prize winning physicist considered to be the founder of quantum theory, and one of the most important physicists of the 20th century, indeed of all time. “An equation for me has no meaning unless it expresses a thought of God.” –Srinivasa Ramanujam, who is widely regarded to be one of the greatest mathematicians of all time ''Science is incompetent to reason upon the creation of matter itself out of nothing. We have reached the utmost limit of our thinking faculties when we have admitted that because matter cannot be eternal and self-existent it must have been created.” –Physicist and mathematician James Clerk Maxwell, who is credited with formulating classical electromagnetic theory

''For myself, faith begins with a realization that a supreme intelligence brought the universe into being and created man. It is not difficult for me to have this faith, for it is incontrovertible that where there is a plan there is intelligence—an orderly, unfolding universe testifies to the truth of the most majestic statement ever uttered—-‘In the beginning God.'” “Science can have no quarrel with a religion which postulates a God to whom men are His children.” –Arthur Compton, winner of the 1927 Nobel Prize in Physics for his discovery of the Compton Effect.

“Those who say that the study of science makes a man an atheist must be rather silly.” “Something which is against natural laws seems to me rather out of the question because it would be a depressive idea about God. It would make God smaller than he must be assumed. When he stated that these laws hold, then they hold, and he wouldn’t make exceptions. This is too human an idea. Humans do such things, but not God.” –Nobel Prize winning physicist Max Born, who was instrumental in the development of quantum mechanics.

“God is a mathematician of a very high order and He used advanced mathematics in constructing the universe.” –Nobel Prize winning physicist Paul A. M. Dirac, who made crucial early contributions to both quantum mechanics and quantum electrodynamics. .“The first gulp from the glass of natural sciences will turn you into an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you.” –Werner Heisenberg Nobel Prize winner in Physics . I have way more quotes to post here, but those would be the equivalent of a book. One last thing: Just because the no of religious people is decreasing, doesnt mean atheists are increasing. People dont need a religion to believe in God. I have no religion but i love God!
