mostly the ones selling you heaven, its no different to snake oil salesmen, you have a condition you don't know about (hellbound) and we have the cure and you'll end up in a nice place which nobody has ever seen, just leave your brain outside and cash in the collection plate

It's interesting that the one thing in life that is totally true - we know we will all die - is a vital component of religion. Even the atheists believe this! So be assured that this is a fact which is being taken seriously, in all religions. That's got to be encouraging! Imagine a religion based on an insistence that nobody dies physically....?

You can start to build faith on the fact that you will die, but that physical death need not be the end of the matter. The ancient scriptures of the Hebrews deals with the fact of death in the lives of historic characters to whom God revealed himself. Before the nation of Israel was even started, Abraham had faith through God's personal dealings with him, that God could resurrect his only son, Isaac, if he was obedient to God. This event was a parable for what God later did in sacrificing HIS nly son then resurrecting him, that we could be resurrected. If this life is all there is, believers in Christ are to be pitied. But the Christian faith is that Jesus came in order to destroy the one who has the power of death, and that he's opened up eternal life to those who are forgiven.

So the answer to your question is, death is a fact upon which God has taken action, where we are utterly helpless to do anything. The initiative is entirely God's. We can respond, or dismiss his invitation and face - what? Death for sure. Then what?

The true religion is based on the Bible. Following Bible principles is found to be beneficial and advantageous. Having faith in God also is beneficial in the way that if you have faith your prayers according to his will will be answered. But to know God's will and what he purposes, Bible reading is a must. To learn more about Jehovah God, please visit www.watchtower.org. All the information is from the Bible and you will be sure to have strong faith in God. For answers to these questions and others please contact Jehovah's Witnesses locally. Matthew 5:3:““Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need, since the kingdom of the heavens belongs to them.”

It's that and the inability to personally explain the creation of the universe. It's a lot easier to say God did it than read a lot of boring books. That's why I say God heats up food, I just can't be bothered finding out how a microwave works.

It is based on the fact that everything was created by an awesome God who loves us and wants us to know we have a purpose in life and then when fulfilled, to live with Him in heaven.

All organized religions, other than the Jewish religion, which was created by God for the Israelites, are made by man and are man’s attempt to please their gods and control other people. All religions have rules, traditions, rituals and laws to follow. Every religion believes that they have the answers for redemption. The answer for redemption through religion, lies within man’s ability to perfectly follow it’s teachings which man can not do. Jesus is the only one who followed religion perfectly.

Jesus is God’s way to reach down to mankind with love, forgiveness, acceptance and grace. Jesus is not a religion. He is God and He is the way for man to have fellowship with God.

When we come to Jesus, we are full of the original sin nature and the sins that we have committed. He cleanses us when we accept Him as our Lord and Savior and repent of those sins. He changes and protects our lives while here on this earth.

Our redemption and salvation results from Jesus’ willful and sacrificial death on the cross to take our place for our sin nature and our sins. He is the only atonement possible because He is without sin. Jesus does it for us because we are incapable of following any religion perfectly. He did follow the law perfectly.

Coming to Jesus as our Lord and our Savior, not religion, is what God requires for us to become forgiven, sanctified, and have the personal relationship with God that He intended from the start. Jesus is the only way to God.

    James 1:27 (New International Version)

27Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

If religion has only done that for you, then I'd drop that religion. Mine is more about living and doesn't concern itself with death or what happens afterward.

    It depends on which religion.

The religious will have a field day with the word "religion".

    Yay, semantics.

Yeah, it plays at our fear of death, our desire for eternal life. It appeals to the lowly servant in us by calling us sinful creatures, and it appeals to the pride and greed in us by telling Christians that they are better than others, and promising them eternal life.
