How much should I charge for babysitting in San Francisco?

I charge $12 an hour now sometimes it seems fine when I mostly watching TV but other times when I don't get any tip it feels like nothing. I was thinking of soon raising it to $14 since just little more but just now getting new clients who I have already told $12 to. I don't want to be unfair but should I have different prices for different families?

$12/an hour & you expect a tip on top of that to sit and watch TV??? For that amount of money I'd expect you to be taking my kids to the park, cooking them meals and helping with homework. I'm afraid if you raise your price, you're going to be pricing yourself out of the market.

I don't know about San Francisco but I am a nanny. I charge $5 an hour per hour per child.

To me, it depends on how many kids, I think. If it's one child, I charge $10/hr. then $5/per child after that. The way I think about it is, they're not just paying you to care for their children, they're also paying you for your time. Time you could have spent working somewhere else. I don't know how old you are, but the money I work for has to go towards bills and if they're going to take my time, I need them to compensate for it.
