  • Should I purchase a Cello or rent one?

I have been procrastinating for years on learning a new instrument I used to play the clarinet and I really need a new hobby which I can enjoy. I love the violin and Cello and have heard the Cello is a good instrument as far as playing solo and ease of learning. I am hoping to figure out the best way to go about it. If I rent a nice instrument I may feel a time constraint to learn so it could be a waste of money or push me to try quicker. I also have seen cheap instruments but if the sound is terrible I'm worried I won't really be motivated to keep playing. I need suggestions. May check out a music place nearby but I wouldn't be apposed to payment plan for reasonable instrument. I really don't want to get a $1,000 violin but if I could find a place that has decent ones for maybe half that would be great. Should I just rent one and get a feel for it first?

  • Can I claim deduction on my student loan even if it's under my parents name yet I pay for it each year?

Last year my accountant let me deduct both my Sallie mae loans even though one is under my father's name. I make all payments and my accountant said according to Please see page 33 of IRS Publication 970 here: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p970.pdf that I cannot. I do not specifically see on here where it is not allowed? Please advise.

  • Does anyone know much about Harvard Risk Management?

I find it extremely weird that you ever have to pay to work a job especially a risky sales job? I have always refused companies like Avon, Amway etc because I think all jobs should pay for background checks etc. Can someone tell me what they think of this company there is not much online except what they posted themselves. I do think I'm good in front of people but i just am weary especially since they are asking you to pay before the background check etc. Couldn't they just lie and keep your money? I like what they do and it seems reasonable but the math does not compute I just always say if it sounds to good it probably is.

  • Can I file a Dissolution of marriage a week before our 5 year anniversary?

So my husband and I would like to get Divorced, it's almost been five years and we want it to be easy. Only problem is he has a court hearing on December 21st for his citizenship, If I was to file a week or two before (our Anniversary is Dec 14th) can we still do a Dissolution since it's just prior to our 5 year anniversary and would the courts have this info by the court date as well. One of the main reasons we are separated is that he is very irresponsible and has not grown up in the last few years, I take care of everything and I didn't marry someone to be their mother. I worry if we wait and get divorced he will drag his feet and it will be my financial burden. I need to move on with my life even though I care and am trying to help wait to he has his residency (His daughter from previous relationship is US citizen) Any assistance would be great if I can file and still do Dissolution before Dec 14th to have it go through and see what the chances are that it would effect our court hearing also.

  • What's the best place to get Real Estate Brokers License in San Francisco?

I don't mind going to classes but having an online option is great too. I'm looking for anyone who is a broker or in property management (what I want to eventually get into) I've also heard to get into property management you need to work in the business for 2 years? I work as an Admin for REIT company so I really feel this would be a better career for me to work to get in the door as I can work part time for now and then if it proves to be lucrative give up my day job. I don't mind sales I can be good at it but if anyone knows a great way to get into property management or being a broker would be great. My main concern is getting my license. I was thinking of going with Kaplan? but if it's cheaper would not mind going elsewhere looking for best education at decent cost. Any suggestions?

  • Can my brother be recruited into the Marines/?

So my brother said some recruiter is obsessed with getting him in and basically has convinced him he won't have a life unless he joins since he did not graduate highschool. He is bipolar and color blind and he told me he is already in. He said he's working as a pulley? Not sure what that means? Anyone know if this is allowed the recruiter even tries to convince him when he's drunk which I think is insane. Anyone have any documents which prove if he cannot be recruited I think it would not be a good thing for my brother as he has had some drug dependency and depression from Bipolar in the past.

  • Should I file Separately this year?

So I have been married for 3 years. Every year I have paid taxes but this year I have had to pay myself as I am subcontracted by a company. I now realize for the past 3 years only I have been paying into taxes since my husband is self employed (he's also an immigrant so I don't think he gets the concept) I've told him like 5 times to pay at least 10% of his income to taxes by the end of December. i don't think he will since we always get a return he doesn't understand that i'm paying all our taxes and only get a little bit back (we keep most finances separate as we each have our own bills) Should I just file separate so I can only be liable for myself or will I still get more back filing married even if he does not pay anything? I'm thinking just to spite him I may pay separate so he has to do his own taxes and realize how much he owes each year. We are just getting through all our immigration stuff but I'm kinda tired of feeling like his mother.

  • How much should I charge for babysitting in San Francisco?

I charge $12 an hour now sometimes it seems fine when I mostly watching TV but other times when I don't get any tip it feels like nothing. I was thinking of soon raising it to $14 since just little more but just now getting new clients who I have already told $12 to. I don't want to be unfair but should I have different prices for different families?

  • Question for the guys how long do you wait to call?

So I had a really great date this weekend met a guy at the bar we talked until 5 in the morning and made breakfast you name it this was friday night/saturday morning he still has not called given it's Tuesday morning should I play cool and wait for him to call or text him this afternoon if he has not called yet? I usually get impatient and text too soon given it's been like 3 days I think it would be okay but I would kind of like it better if he texted or called me to hang out again

I'm looking to have a party in May or June, myself and friends are all 20-30 somethings still like to be create from time to time. Three options seem pretty fun without being to common. Just seeing what would be the best idea weighing out pros and cons. They are Prom night, Masquerade Ball and 20's, thought about 80's as being fun but worried it's been over done. Just curious to others opinions.

  • best way to quit smoking?

Just looking for opinions, I quit awhile ago when I was a pack a day smoker in the last year I gradually went from smoking on occasion to like 5 or so a day most days. I know it will be much easier than my first time quitting, I used lozenges and it helped control me from being angry and feeling so crappy. I tried having one yesterday and forgot how much it makes your throat burn. Anyone know if the patch is any better? I could probably try to keep myself busy but I usually end up smoking cause I start to get depressed by day 2 or 3. Any other suggestions or feedback on the patch let me know.

  • I need to know if my chimney works?

I want to use my chimney on Christmas and I just moved in it's kind of dirty like it's been used before but how do I tell if I can use it. I tried feeling for a draft. Should I try to use it before or is there a better way to test it before risking filling my place with smoke?
