Since the AMD Phenom comes equipped with 6 cores, you would think it's actually the best option. In fact, it's the most attractive one but not the best.

Most of the software nowadays cannot even make use of 4 cores, 6-core processing is still something we think it should happen at some time in the future.

It may seem the AMD is better prepared for the future but, there will be better processors at the time you would actually use the total amount of cores the Phenom comes with.

Since you want to do video editing the best choice is clear: Intel Core i7.

Intel has always been better than AMD when talking about video conversions, video editing and multimedia tasks.

Don't be fooled by the 3.2GHz to 3.06GHz frequency comparison.

Intel is better than AMD when talking about the RAM and the motherboards and REAL performance.

Software is the most retarded part of the Information Technology World, at least for the moment.

Hardware is advancing at light speed and the software can't keep up.

Get the Intel Core i7.The performance you'll get is something you will surely make use of, not like in AMD's case.

Intel. While the AMD has 2 more cores around the same price... those are 2 cores that are just going to be sitting there while you're editing. Software isn't designed for 6 cores yet. Most software is still only designed for use with a single core. Check with the developer of your Video editing software to see if they could in fact make use of 6 cores... I doubt it though.

Furthermore, Intel overall performance is going to be higher thanks to better motherboards and higher memory standards. In order to get DDR3 over 1200 on AMD you have to overclock. Intel boards will easily go up to 1866 stock.

Historically, I've always been a huge AMD fan. Right now though, I'm buying Intel. They are just too far ahead.

Get the 930 because you could over clock it previous the speeds of the 950 and that's more less costly. The 950 gained't over clock swifter so it's going to easily be a waste of money. also, in case you seem at any benchmarks, the i7 owns the phenom in maximum of them.

amd has been usually better for video editing, although the corei7 has better architecture, and tri channel memory, so more memory bandwith is being accessed. also, yoou have to think about the application. some are multi threaded, but no programs i know of are 6 core threaded yet. clock speed for clock speed is never a good way to compare, as the other gentleman had stated. intels architechture is way better, even though im a fan of amd and hate to say it. go with the 950.

If you're going for video editing you want the i7 hands down. It may be a little more expensive, but it's hyper-threaded, meaning that those four cores it has actually run like 8 cores. Eight cores running at over three gigahertz will give you great performance when you edit your videos.

If it weren't for the video editing I would recommend the Phenom because it's cheaper yet still offers great performance, but because you have video editing you need every bit of power you can get.
